The Drop Of Water That Can Wear Through A Stone is born in Anno Domini 2006 by an idea of Io-Notan and Aun.In the beginning of the year Io-Notan records 3 songs noise/industrial, that will be the pillars of the first promo, and find out the concept that will be the basis of this new Italian band. The fragility of the drop of water against the high resistance of the stone. Its a bizarre match, when the stone seems to be prominent thanks to his strength and hostility, but when also the weak and innocuous drop of water in its never ending falling wins the resistance of the stone and succeed to erode it. Here, in this musical way, the stone is represented with noise patterns (the part most heavy and unnatural of the sound) while in spite of it the drop is represented by heavy gained and also clean guitars that tear the electronic moments and create an extreme melancholy atmosphere in the sound. Started from a project initially drone (with noise influences), the two men band finally find their own sound, very personal and easily recognizable. They reject to write music already listened to, if also it can be underground, and it undertake to create this totally new genre. The few drum-machine patterns helps guitars and bass lost in industrial loops, while a voice (without any effects) screams and whisper. Guitars elaborate clean and drone-oriented riffs, emphasizing the electronic loops with folk melodies until explode with funeral doom riffs.Their first promo Sound Of Sick, recorded in the Auns home studio in summer 2006, includes an intro, 2 songs and a cover song of A Forest (The Cure), completely revisited, reach almost 30 min of music. The songs are usually 10 min longs, slow and obsessive with monolithic riffing and doom expressiveness in their central part. In this promo there are easily recognizable drone influences (Sunn O)) over all) and US ambient/drone influences, all permeated by apocalyptic visions on dark scenarios.Now The Drop Of Water That Can Wear Through The Stone is working to embody their perverse thoughtsI The Drop of Water That Can Wear Through A Stone nascono nellanno DOMINI 2006 da un idea di Io-Notan e Aun.Io-Notan all'inizio dell anno incide 3 pezzi noise/industrial che poi saranno colonna portante del primo promo, ed elabora il concetto che poi sarà alla base del combo italiano. La fragilità della goccia d'acqua contrapposta alla resistenza della roccia. Connubio alquanto bizzarro, dove la seconda sembra svettare sulla prima per forza e ostilità , ma dove la goccia per quanto debole e innocua nel suo incessante e perseverante scendere vince la resistenza della pietra e riesce a frantumarla. Qui, in chiave musicale, la roccia si modella con le partiture noise (la parte più dura e artificiosa del sound) mentre in antitesi la goccia assume le sembianze di chitarre ora pesanti e ora più rilassate che squarciano i momenti di elettronica e sagomano con atmosfera mista a un senso di estrema malinconia il suono del gruppo. Partiti da un progetto inizialmente Drone misto al Noise, i 2 associano i loro vari gusti e ascolti fino a plasmare un sound molto personale e riconoscibile a primo impatto. Abbandonano cosi lidea di scrivere musica già sentita, per quanto di nicchia possa essere, e si buttano in quella creazione che non trova ne etichettatura ne catalogazione e che loro stessi non riescono a definire. Eliminata quasi completamente la batteria e sostituita nella sua poca presenza da una drum machine, sorreggono le parti di chitarra e di basso grazie a loop elettronici dal retrogusto industrial e inframezzano il tutto con una voce mai effettata che alterna un cantato acido (quasi screaming) a un cantato pulito e sibilato. Le chitarre tessono tele acustiche e drone accentuando i passaggi più elettronici con armonie folkeggianti fino ad esplodere in connubi dissonanti e criptici come scuola funeral doom insegna.Registrato presso lo studio di casa di Aun nellestate del 2006 il primo promo Sound Of Sickening include un intro, 2 brani propri e una cover per circa quasi mezz'ora di musica. La cover inclusa nel cd è A Forest dei Cure. Il brano che ha una durata di poco inferiore ai dieci minuti, viene rallentato e nella parte centrale appesantito da un riffing monolitico e dall espressività doom. Nel promo sono riconoscibili le influenze di scuola Sunn O)) dove i The Drop strizzano locchio all'underground ambient/drone americano con il loro suono impastato ma mai confusionario, e montano così visioni apocalittiche su scenari tetri e angoscianti. Grande importanza, infine, riveste il dinamismo dei brani. Questi appaiono ossessionanti, lenti, martellanti, dove i cambi di tempo sono praticamente del tutto inesistenti e mano a mano che i brani si snodano, lasciano spazio sempre più a vedute fittizie dove la luce è percepibile solo attraverso lemanazione di calore.I The Drop attualmente stanno attualmente dando forma ai loro perversi pensieri.
