About Me

I was born in the north of Italy, in the summer of 79. My liaison with music started a little late, as I received an acoustic guitar as a birthday present 17: the world regrets it ever since.
Musically, improvisation has been my favourite environment from the very beginning, together with a melodic and lyrical approach to the instrument: bass. This is a path I've taken during my years in Berlin (2001 to 2003) and then in Amsterdam (2004 to 2007). I recently moved to Leipzig in the former East Germany, checking out sessions now and again...
My last main project in Amsterdam was Laguna International (Jazz) Quartet and for a few months I've also played with singer-songwriter and harpist Habiba Doorenbos. I've taken private lessons from Dino Contenti, Marcel Kroemker and Petros "el greco" Klampanis. Besides, for one year I have studied at Peter Guidi's Jazz Workshop III at the Amsterdams Music School (Muziekschool Amsterdam) and attended now and then Arnold Dooyeweerd's weekly Improvisatie Workshop at the Bimhuis.
For the first time, in summer 2006 I've attended to international jazz masterclasses in Perugia (Umbria Jazz - July 7 to 17) and in Siena (Siena Jazz - July 24 to August 8), both in Italy. There, I've had the chance to study with Dave Clark, Sheryl Bailey, Mike Williams, Jim Odgren (all from Berklee School of Music), Piero Leveratto, Paolino Dalla Porta, Stefano Battaglia and Franco D'Andrea.
Although I play jazz almost exclusively, I listen to quite a lot of music as diverse as Steve Reich, Yo-Yo Ma, Renaud Garcia-Fons, the Beatles, Ernst Reijseger, Vicente Amigo, Bad Plus, E.S.T., Pat Metheny, Ani DiFranco, Toots Thielemans, John Coltrane or Di Grine Kuzine, just to mention a few.
