"I know a bank where the wild thyme blows, Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows, Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine, With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine."~ Shakespeare: A Midsummer Night’s Dream Quote. Act ii. Scene 1.
So, what do you want to know?
I like: photography, reading, writing poetry-memoirs-and whatever else comes to mind, creating and admiring art, fingerpainting, bodypainting, dancing, listening to and playing music, being somewhere else, experiencing nature, being immersed in different cultures, blowing bubbles, dreaming, playing in the rain, living, loving, believing. I am trilingual (American Sign Language, Spanish, and English), and like learning new languages (German, French, Latin, Japanese, Italian, Dutch, whatever). I have studied several religions. I LOVE LOVE. I am a hopeful vs. hopeless romantic.
I've sung all of my life and played all kinds of musical instruments over the years (flutes, recorders, piano, banjo, bass guitar, regular guitar, bongos, bells, triangles, zills, bodhran, marimba, ocarina, tambourine, LOTS of things). I started performing on stage when I was 6. I've done tons of backstage theater work, including operas, musicals, dancing troupes, musical theater, and plays. Some of the shows I've worked professionally over the course of 18 years include "Tosca", "Annie", "Will Rogers' Follies", "A Streetcar Named Desire", "Cats", "Riverdance", "The Nutcracker", "Carmen", and "The Magic Flute" (there are tons more operas, 10 years worth). I've done costuming, scenery, sound, lights, and stage management. All of that doesn't include the school productions and volunteer work of the past.
I'm the type of person that can carry on a deep philisophical discussion while being silly by wearing horns and a feather boa. I want to buy the world a coke and teach them. I help people. What I don't know how to do I attack with gusto and learn. There is a huge amount of knowledge out there for the taking; it's just a matter of finding it. I will try nearly anything once.
I see beauty in everything and everyone, even if they don't believe or see it. I have a knack for pulling thoughts out of people and helping them voice what's inside them. I LOVE to see people smile. I'm interested in learning about an entire person by getting to know what makes them who they are.
I tell it like it is, so don't ask if you don't really want to know. I'm a good listener. I'm a Pisces (western astrology) Water Rat (eastern astrology). I'm an INFJ . Bottom line: I am a "living in my head clairvoyant empath who likes orderly borderline chaos and questions everything".
I have: flown a two-seater plane (with assistance); flown in a two-seater ultralight; eaten sushi; been horseback riding; taken belly dancing lessons; studied and performed Tai Chi; seen the Teotenango Ruins, Taxco, the Cacahuamilpa Caves, and the Sierra Madres in Mexico; scuba'd in Bimini (saw the "Road to Atlantis"); been in the Rocky Mountain National Park and have seen the continental divide; hiked in the Smokey Mountains; ridden every rollercoaster in Cedar Point, OH more than once (Millenium Force is the best coaster in the U.S.!); swam in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans; lived in Colorado, Ohio, Georgia, Tennessee, and now Virginia; visted Atlantic City, Annapolis, Washington DC (been to the Smithsonian, saw lots of historial documents and history, and touched the White House gate before it was so heavily guarded), Cranston, New York City (been to the top of the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty, saw "Cats" on Broadway), Boston, San Diego, Nags Head, Hilton Head, Atlanta, Nashville, Memphis, Lake Erie, Chicago (been to the top of the Sears Tower and saw the Blue Man Group perform at a small theater on Michigan Ave.) and Lake Michigan, Eugene OR, Portland, Trenton, Philadelphia, Miami, Hunstville (scuba'd in the Space Center training tank), Birmingham, Richmond, Savannah GA, Houston, Dallas, Cape May, Wildwood, St. Louis (been to the top of the Arch), oh hell..too many to mention (I've been all over the U.S.!); been to Niagra Falls (Canada) and under those falls; and got married at the Ohio Ren. Festival (I was an elven faery and hubby was a ranger).
So what the hell does a Training Technologist do, anyway? I do web development and help people with computers, as well as whatever else comes along that people don't know how to do or need help with (i. e. video shoots, learning new software, creating movies and dvds, taking photos, etc.). I also train people on soft skills, like communication, listening, and organization. Lastly, I head up a knowledge management system.
