ABOUT BO AND HIS ORIGINAL MUSIC

Over and over again, in interviews and on his official site, Bo Bice got the message out that his goal for his second album was for it to have more Bo. For example, in June 2006, the Birmingham Times reported Bo as saying, "When it comes time to do the next one…I hope the vision will be more Southern rock .... to season the album with more of me" (Birmingham News, June 10 ’06). He repeated this again in September 2006 (SeMissourian, Sept 8 '06): “On the next album I'd like to go more rootsy, more country, more southern rock Bo.”

Bo and Music: Interview! Published August 30, 2007. Bo talks about the importance of music and his musical origins. The actual date of the interview is not clear at this time, but in the interview, Bo is very clear about his view of music. Support Bo's Original Music is very happy that the photo Carrie Martin has allowed us to use as our official photo is now featured in the updated version of that interview. Check it out!

Bo says that he is more proud of this new album than anything he has done musically before. He has some fabulous session musicians, Chuck Leavell and Waddy Wachtel among them. Again this new album - the real Bo! - was released October 23. The physical CD is a Wal-Mart exclusive, and it may also be downloaded from a variety of internet sites including Wal-Mart, iTunes, amazon.com downloads, and the Hoooka player on this site.

October 23 was the day everyone could "See the Light" of Bo's talent, heart, and soul! Thanks to everyone who has supported Bo's original music!

Thanks to "Fifi" for the bio:

Harold “Bo” Bice, was born November 1, 1975 in Huntville, Alabama. Raised by his mother Nancy from age two, when his father left, Bo was surrounded by music growing up. He received his early training singing with his mother, who was part of a gospel choir, and bought his first Jim Croce, Allman Bros, and Skynyrd albums at age four. Bo and his family moved frequently during his childhood, living in Georgia, Alabama and Florida, and finally relocated to England when he was twelve.

In England, Bo attended London Central High School, learned to play saxophone, piano and harmonica, and was inseparable from his guitar. Bo dropped out of high school in his final year and came back to Alabama (eventually earning his GED and completing two semesters of college there). Bo formed the band Blue Suede Nickel, embarking on many years of playing clubs throughout the south. He went on to form Purge and finally Sugarmoney, eventually opening for Warrant and Blackfoot.

While managing a guitar store in 2005, Bo auditioned for American Idol on a bet. To his own great surprise, Bo not only won instant acceptance from the judges, but went on to become a hugely popular contestant and runner up, losing the competition to Carrie Underwood by a reported 168 votes. Since Idol, Bo has recorded “Brown Skin Girl” with Santana, “Time Has Come Today” for a recent Monopoly commercial, the title track for the movie, Blades of Glory, and the near platinum-selling The Real Thing, produced by Clive Davis. Bo returns to his southern roots with his self-released 2007 album, See The Light. Bo lives in Alabama with his wife, Caroline, and son, Aidan.

Millions of people loved and voted for Bo Bice on American Idol. Hundreds of thousands more have gone on to embrace his debut CD The Real Thing. But the majority of the songs on The Real Thing were written by other artists and songwriters, and not in Bo Bice's genre. We feel that the uber-talented Mr. Bice deserves a shot at a long and healthy career as a recording artist in his own right. Check out his new CD released on October 23!

Bo donated some items from the Season 4 AI Tour for auction on eBay to benefit his home church, New Hope, in Alabama. This beautiful guitar, along with a Stratocaster and a stompboard went for a total of $6700.00. Great job by Bo and fans!

AND NEWSPAPER REPORTS

A Report on Bo and The Petition from the Times Record News

Thanks to Lana Sweeten-Shults of the Times Record News for reporting this story about Bo and The Petition back on September 15:

. . . you actually know you've made it in the music business when your fans have organized the Grassroots Coalition to Hear More Bo.Bice, who will be headlining FallsFest Sept. 30 in Lucy Park, is just becoming familiar with the coalition, which is circulating a petition (already signed by about 1,400 fans) to, basically, let Bo be Bo. . ."I'm honored people want to hear more of my music," said Bice, who was in the back of his tour bus somewhere on the road in Iowa. . .After "Idol," Bice recorded his "The Real Thing" CD and has been touring relentlessly ever since. . .And, of course, he's been keeping up with the Grassroots Coalition to Hear More Bo.

Thanks for the update, Lana!
