Influences: These are but a few of mine. The rest of the band will have theirs and they'll all be good if I know them.
Beatles (always on in our house as a kid), Stones (same),Burt Bacharach(it may be easy listening but have you tried playing it! He ain't no dummy).
David Bowie..one of the best , in my humble...Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Dean Martin.Big Bands, Ellington, Ella Fitz, Billie Holliday, Nat King Cole.Good melodic swing, great pipes!...Dionne Warwick , Ray Charles, Marvin G, Aretha Franklin ...
Parker, Miles, Coltrane, Art Pepper, Jon Scofield,Joe Lovano and,Johnny Griffin, Sonny Rollins, Clark Terry....if it ain't got that swing it just ain't got it
and that goes for any style of music.). All of this stuff was played and sung along with by mam, dad or older siblings as I grew up. Elvis Presley, Eddie Cochran, Everly Bros, Buddy Holly, Peggy Lee, Eartha Kitt... always on the radio or the record player and they're all just so bloody amazing . Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Roy Harper, Carol King, James Taylor, Cptn Beefheart, Sensational Alex Harvey Band a bit later...
Sex Pistols, Devo, and the whole punk explosion in the late 70's, Velvet Underground, some traditional folk Bothy Band, Planxty, early Paul Brady/Andy Irvine. Incredible String Band, The Band, Ry Cooder. Some contemporary jazz fusion/ dance crossover eg Nils Petter Molvaer...the list is endless but I'll cut it short there for fear of killing you with boredom.
Sounds Like: Soopa-doopa!!x
