Having disbanded North East noise groups Drawn By Lines and Written From Negative, Sunderland taskmaster Kevin Dosdale has returned with a second-hand sampler and battered keyboard. Electro outfit, Razmataz Lorry Excitement was not quite what anyone familiar with the aforementioned acts was expecting, but like a genial conductor lurching over his various bits of electronic gagetry, Dosdale’s unholy matrimony of brassic dance and green-eyed funk is strangely alluring. Download-only singe Roger The Dog (The Story So Far) works up an atmosphere of tension and sonic possibility, and the impending release of his full-length debut looks set to further distance the artist from tired rock tropes. Inspired by the likes of Cassius, LCD Soundsystem and Soulwax, RLE produce the kind of throbbing electro that reduces dancefloors to atoms and clubbers to wildly-vibrating primordial elements.
