"Playn" = mainstream feel-good music based on jazz and pop
PLAYN is a 5 piece band playing mainstream music influenced by jazz and funk. André Steimler (23, Vocals & Guitar) and Magnus Thingnaes (22, Piano & Synth) started writing and playing music together during their studies at Berklee College of Music - at that time with fellow American students on Bass and Drums. After their return to Norway, PLAYN is now a full fledged Norwegian band, featuring Sebastian Haugen on electric Bass, Torbjørn Raae on lead guitar and Øystein Bang on drums. PLYAN's first album"Tuned in" will be in Scandinavian stores August 2007 and is a project by PLAYN and some big European names in music.
All songs, lyrics and arrangements are written by Playn, except for the strings and horns arrangements written by multiple Grammy award winner and European Jazz legend Frode Thingnaes. Jan Erik Kongshaug, world leading sound engineer (Pat Metheny, Chick Corea, Kieth Jarret etc.) has captured the sound of Playn which represents high quality musical handcraft and feel-good pop lines for the mainstream ear.
