"Neither God Nor Hip Hop Is Dead"Some of you may say that I am out of my mind, that I have lost it for putting God and Hip-Hop in the same sentence. Well I would just like to say I'm not. I just love my God and his word, with all that is within me, and I hope to return home one day. I would also like you all to know that I also have a little bit of a different kind of love for Hip-Hop, and the word from which it came from, that's the streets, the hood, my home here on earth. So just imagine this, you woke up one day, and a T.V. program is on and the man on the T.V. said that Time Magazine issued a cover in 1960 something that said God was dead and America has no interest in the church. Then a few weeks later you hear on the radio that Hip-Hop is dead. So are they saying that now America has no interest in Hip-Hop. I said to myself (WOW) what are they talking about, and who comes up with this mess, and where are they. So I just set back and asked myself what is dead? What does the word dead mean? The first thing that came to my mind was gone forever. So next I said to myself I really need to look the word dead up in the dictionary. So I did just that. It said "DEAD" no loner alive, asleep, deceased, defunct, departed, extinct, gone, late, lifeless, lacking physical feeling, sensitivity, insensitive, numb and unfeeling. Once again, I said to myself (WOW) which of these words describe anything about my God or Hip-Hop. I would say none of them. I believe that if just one person can feel God within themself in his or her soul and pass on his word God will never die. As with Hip-Hop I believe that if just one person feels the sound, the words, or the music within themself and pass the voice of the hood on to someone else Hip-Hop will never die. I just would like you all to remember that the word of God will get you home, and the words and sound of Hip-Hop will remind you of your home on earth. So then ask yourself, am I dead? are you dead? Do you and I love God, fear him, and praise him? Do you and I love hip-hop? feel the music, and love the sound? If this is so WELL NEITHER GOD NOR HIP-HOP IS DEAD.04/27/07 PREACHER E.
