Laid-back nights at home; surfing the Web; Bay Area sports (San Jose Sharks, San Francisco 49ers, Golden State Warriors, Oakland Athletics); the cinema.
Most of all, I love to travel! Whether it's across town or out of the country, I enjoy the challenge of immersing myself in another place for a few days. In the past couple of years I've gone to Spain, Switzerland, France (twice), Italy (twice), Germany, Canada, and the Netherlands. My favorite place to visit though, is Las Vegas, Baby!
Really, I'm not picky ;) Having a sense of humor (or "humour" as they say here in the Olde Country) is a definite plus. And while I did say on the left-hand side that I like laid-back nights at home, it'd be great to get dressed up and hit the town every once in a while.
Most of all, I like people who are comfortable in their own skin, who don't have to puff up and act differently in a crowd. And no flakes (unless they're frosted and doused in milk)! People of their word are appreciated!
My favorites at the moment are: Fort Minor, Linkin Park, The Killers. Among my all-time favorites: AC/DC, Van Halen, The Eagles, Faith No More, Night Ranger, Prince (in all of his iterations), Jimi Hendrix, Run-DMC, Beastie Boys. I'll listen to pretty much anything, especially something that gets my head noddin' and toes tappin'.
Love love LOVE going to the movies - yeah it's overpriced these days but there's something about going to the cinema, being in a darkened theatre with the big screen and the surround sound, that allows you to feel like for those two hours or so that you enter someone else's world.
Favorites of the recent (and not-so-recent) past: Forrest Gump, Ocean's Eleven, Go, Bad Boys, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Closer, The Debut, Purple Rain, Stripes, Training Day...that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Even though I'm in the UK, I still get my fill mostly from American television - especially CSI (all varieties), The OC, The Amazing Race, Law & Order. I'll also catch 24, Cold Case, and Family Business if I'm flipping through the channels. Mad props to the geniuses who invented NASN (North American Sports Network, a British satellite TV channel that's all American sports). I couldn't imagine living over here and missing the playoffs, the Super Bowl, etc., even if they're on in late night! :D
About the only British TV shows I've kept up with are "Top Gear" (automotive review show) and "Coupling" (the original UK version, which lasted four years on the BBC, as opposed to the neutered US version that lasted four weeks on NBC). Just a great, contemporary comedy with that rueful British humor & sensibility.
