With a name like Filth&Splendour you better be able to back it up, and these two South London Electro Pimps do it in spades. Pooling their formidable talents just seven months ago DJs Oli Cassidy and James Trystan are delivering unique and memorable sets all over London and beyond. Running R U Dirty? Events every Saturday in London’s sexy Soho; since day one they have quickly become a force to be reckoned with on the Electro scene. With their enviable gain in popularity has come collaborations with hugely respected events like, Seven, Issst, Slaang and Push. New Years Eve saw them close the second room at Issst’s massive Secret New Years Eve Warehouse Party in Shoreditch, playing alongside Tiefsharwz, Simian Mobile Disco and the Klaxxons. Maximal have quickly snapped them up as residents for their Maximal and GetMaximal events which will be continuing to storm the capital in 2007. With international bookings now coming in and studio time booked, these two are hot to trot, recently voted ‘ones to watch’ by One Week To Live, these two underground enigmas will be hitting the DJ stratosphere very soon.
Both Oli Cassidy and James Trystan have a long heritage in the dance music industry. Oli Cassidy previously playing under the moniker Tin Tin took the DirtyDjs collective to the Hard Dance scene and saw him playing almost every major venue in London for the likes of Frantic, Heat and Tasty on a regular basis. All the while managing nine other DJs, over one hundred and fifty events and producing several successful tracks. Since then Oli has left that scene behind to explore the rich world of Electro and he hasn’t looked back.
The other half of act is James Trystan. He started his music career playing Hard Dance at illegal raves back in ‘98 before moving into London and hitting the funky house scene. His first night was called ‘One to Many’ and ran every Sunday in the heart of Angel . Pretty soon he was snapped up as a resident at The Townhouse in Knightsbridge, an exclusive cocktail bar that looks after the rich boys and footballers alike. Since collaborating with Oli Cassidy, Filth&Splendour have also held residencies at Pop alongside Simon Dale, Lee Dagger and Steve Smart. Thirst Bar in Soho and Ha Ha in Guildford are still running strong today.
What makes these two hedonists different from the all rest? It’s simple these two have a drive like no other, anyone who knows them will tell you there not happy unless everything is perfect, their attention to detail is obsessive to admiration.
R U Dirty?... you will be!
