About Me

Lhay Browning Thriffiley (of The Paperwhites) is a singer/songwriter/lyricist who has worked mainly in the South Mississippi region since 1993. Lhay wrote, performed and recorded with the band Pennyroyal in Telluride, CO in 1996, and with Red Velvet Couch, a South Mississippi project in which she collaborated with long-time songwriting partner Steven Wolfe from 1997 to 2000. Her voice was featured on the widely released Savalas Brothers' recording "Pimp Knuckle," produced by Grammy-nominated producer Headfridge and also featuring Mr. Mixx of 2 Live Crew. Her voice and lyrics can be heard on every track of the 2004 T-Bone's Records Hollywood release "Mood Elevator." She has written, performed and recorded with her brother Reed Browning of the Old Union Outlaws, as well as with her husband Tate Thriffiley of The Blues Rangers and The Deltamatics in their latest project, The Paperwhites. *** Lhay has been featured as a guest vocalist by bands from the Mississippi Delta to the Gulf Coast, including Meet the Press, The Patrick Smith Band, and local legends Smoke Up Johnny, and Big Daddy and the Speakeasy. Lhay has recorded with Mississippi musicians Mark Mann, Thomas Jackson, and Humble Root, to name a few. Most recently, she can be heard singing and laughing on the Friday Night Gigolos new release STILL STANDING. *** This page may include recordings from any of the above-mentioned sessions, as well as solo works, with the occasional rare basement recording or unreleased demo. *** If you are interested in obtaining a copy of any of the recordings you hear on this page, please send a message. Your message will be forwarded to the approriate label, and someone will contact you.
