Who We Are:
This is the official MySpace for the J. Thomas Jeans Back Surgery Fund, or Jeans Fund for short.
A few of us at the Friday the 13th Forum decided to pull together and try to help a friend of ours get the medical attention he needs -- back surgery.
Jeans cannot work due to an accidental back injury, and even if he were able, most businesses would not risk hiring him because his presence would be considered an on-site liability.
This is where the MySpace members come in. With a minimum donation of five dollars, you can help someone who is in great need and has nowhere else left to turn.
Donations will be accepted only through PayPal. Checks can be a bit risky, and considering the online nature of MySpace, PayPal seems the most fitting method.
Those of you who are curious as to whether or not this is a scam, I assure you it's not. Jeans himself will be making frequent visits to the myspace page and you can view the official thread at the Friday the 13th Forum or you can look at Jeans' long-term MySpace account.
(Some of the people behind the creation of this MySpace account are members of the Friday the 13th community that have met Jeans in person; he is a long-time member of the forum and has been one of the moderators for the community since late 2002. We can assure you that his problem is legitimate.)
You will have to register to view the thread at the Friday the 13th forum, as it is in a members-only section. It costs nothing, and who knows? You might just like it there.
Our Goal:
Unfortunately, back surgery and follow-up care is very expensive. Even those with insurance sometimes find themselves saddled with bills that they struggle to cover. We figure that, with as many people as there are on Myspace, it doesn’t hurt to make an appeal.
There are over 107,000,000 profiles on this site; if 2000 of those were to donate $5.00 a piece, Jeans could very likely afford the surgery he needs. There is no limit on how much you can donate, but we do ask that the minimum donation be no lower than $5.00.
