Selectah Spinback outta Leipzig, East Germany!Greets my people - this is my musical biography:Thanks to my father my whole life was filled with all kinds of music since I can remember. When I grew up in my beloved hometown Leipzig, I had many "periods" like 60ies music, Grunge, Hip Hop or Jungle until I got my first mixtape from Leipzig's Far East Soundsystem in 1995. From that moment on I deeply fell in love with the Jamaican music and the dancehall culture. The following years I collected mixtapes until I could not wait for the next good mix and so I started to buy Reggae Records (in those days I had to drive to Berlin to the next Reggae store).Selectah Spinback officially entered the stage and the turntables in 2002 as Leipzig's new Reggae Selector. From that point on nothing could stop me to become a complete reggae addict, spending all my money for vinyl and dubplates - the rest is history: Regular shows in Leipzig and even bookings all over the country, e.g. Warm-Ups und Aftershows with the Silly Walks Soundsystem, Patrice or UK's Overproof Soundsystem, Backing Dj for Mono& Nikitaman and Jah Meek, Gigs @ the Link UP or the Fusion Festival and many own DA SWITCH parties...Since three years Spinback also proudly presents his mounthly radio show "Offbeat@SundayGroove" on Radio Blue (2nd Sunday of the mounth), where he promotes the newest and hottest reggae tunes or some of his fresh Remixes, alone or together with his Da Switch Crew Members...But what is DA SWITCH one might ask: In 2003 Spinback and his friends Mr. Olsen and Phil I.P. founded "DA SWITCH", Leipzig's alternative Party-Crew. Under one roof they made it to combine all kinds of first class party music from Reggae/ Dancehall and Funk/ Soul to New School Breakz. But the Crew only became complete with the helping hands of Raik (driver/ technics/...) and Dali (technics/ sound/ PA/ Drum& Bass Dj - KNAGGE) and not to forget Rene (driver/ hand...).Interested?
