About Mão:
Mão Creations started in 1998 the name mão was taken from my Portuguese heritage meaning hand, which gives me a deep personal feeling towards my work. My sculptures decorate many personal collections from backyard gardens to sitting rooms, coffee houses to film and to many fine shops and shows across this grand land.
Where you can find my unique and beautiful sculptures. I attend The Buyers Market of American Craft twice a year which is held in Philadelphia, PA. February and August. A wholesale show where I take orders from galleries and craft shops located all over the country. For example: the fine folks from Earth & State (See Below). So, with that in mind I would like you to support your local craft shops, galleries and craft fairs. You might be surprised to find my work or some other artists’ unique and beautiful creation to take on home. About my Work:
I try to be as natural as possible to give my sculptures a more down to earth look and feel. Hey, its clay! Earth, Water and Fire all rolled in to one. I use some glaze, glass and a highfire metallic which help showcase the clay's natural beauty. All sculptures are once-fired to cone 04. This helps with the overall feel and look of the piece. Yes, it will patina beautifully if left outside.
The stands are made of wood which come from our land that are cut and sawed up at a local mill. We decided some years back that the undergrowth on the land needed to grow up. So in thinking on behave of good land management we did what needed to be done.
Also jute (hemp) is used to hang the sculptures. Yes, its biodegradable so add some copper wire if you plan to set it in the garden.
