About Me

Tal Ronen is an accomplished young bass player. He studies with a variety of world-renowned musicians such as John Pattituci (a world-renowned Jazz performer,) and has studied with Michael Klinghofer (a noted soloist & teacher,) and Teddy Kling (1st bass man, Israeli Philharmonic.)As a bass player in Manhattan, Tal plays with many notable musicians such as Frank Wess (Sax.), Jimmy Cobb (Drums), Harry Whitaker (Piano), Ryan Kisor, Joe Magnarelli (Trumpet), Shiela Jordan, Miles Griffith (Vocals), and many more.Tal has played at many prominent New York venues, most notably Sweet Rhythm, Iridium, Smalls, Fat Cat, Louis, Pianos, Dizzys Club, Merkin Hall and Rose hall at Lincoln Center. He has also participated in various festivals around the world including the International Association of Jazz Education convention, as a representative of Israel, and at festivals in Europe such as the Sibiu Jazz Festival in Romania and the Gyor International Art Festival in Hungary. In Israel, he has been a frequent participant of local jazz festivals such as the international Red Sea Jazz Festival in Eilat, the Israel Festival in Jerusalem, the Tel-Aviv Jazz festival, the Haifa Jazz festival and others. In his teens, as a protege of the great Arnie Lawrence (who has taken him under his wing when Tal was 15), Tal was regularily accompanying world-renowned musicians in their concerts in Israel, artists such as Max Roach (Drums), James Moody (Tn. Sax.) Pat Metheny (Guitar) Eric Alexander (Tn. Sax) Miles Griffith (Vocals) Jason Lindner (Piano) and many others. Tal graduated from the prestigious art high school Thelma Yellin in Israel, and served the Israeli Army as a bass player in the Army Jazz ensemble, enjoying an outstanding musician status. A two-time scholarship receiver from the American-Israeli Cultural Foundation, he has also won several competitions for ensemble playing at the Rimon Jazz School. He is currently attending the BFA program at the New York City College. Tal was born in Israel, 1981, and is currently living in New York.
