E3's current residency is ATLAS - global HEAT at the Holocene in Portland, second Saturday of every month with djs Anjali & The Incredible Kid - almost five years on and running hot!! And I'm also proud to be a member of the VARIOUS gang...
As a member of BSI's flagship agit-dub band Systemwide, as well as earlier incarnations Kaiju 7 and Hijrah, plus SF's space station improv crew Bucolic, I've been playing music full-on since 1995 and DJing regularly since 2000. Some shows and tours of note include support slots with artists including Dub Syndicate, Adrian Sherwood, Mad Professor, Lee Perry, Rob Paine, Seiji, Domu, State of Bengal, J-Boogie's Dubtronic Science, Dr. Israel, DJ Krush, Mikey Dread, Scientist, Badawi, Jah Warrior, DJ Spooky, Safety Scissors, Kid 606, Filastine and hundreds more.
I was president of BSI Records and One Drop Recordings, the US's premier dub-oriented label at the time and its hip hop imprint, respectively, until they closed up shop at the end of 2003 - now it's full circle and music is again for love instead of livelihood, al hamdulillah. Collecting records since I heard 'Shock The Monkey' on KFRC in 1983, my deepest sonic loves are the sounds of dub, reggae, punk, jazz, the Middle East and Africa. Previous DJ residencies here in Portland include a weekly at the Saucebox, and Deeper Roots and Bassism at the Fez Ballroom. Now it's all about ATLAS, Various, and other parties here and there. During the day I'm a high school art teacher. I love my life and my wife and my baby and my friends and my beasts and my garden and my deen and the Sufi way in particular and give thanks for them itinually...
