The
Minnesota Spoken Word Association is one of the premier spoken word organizations in the country. Founded by spoken word artists to serve as a resource and service organization for the spoken word community in MN, and beyond, it has worked to help build the spoken word community and to elevate the art form through its mission, programming, and education programs on the tradition. Created in 2000, with support from Tru Ruts Endeavors, the
MNSWA E-Letter became one of essential information sources of the Spoken Word movement in Minnesota, and beyond. With a newsletter that continues to grow each day and programming that strives to innovate the movement, the MNSWA E-Letter provides information about spoken word and the spoken word community, in addition to related events in hip hop and the community. The eCalendar was created as a supplement to the E-Letter and a support to the community. We support positive-minded work, programs, and events that strive to elevate and build community through spoken word, hip hop and conscious music.
We welcoming event + program listings. We only ask that you provide the information to us in a standard format to making the listing of events easier. You will find in the a blog above, the standard event listing. You can also email us event + program listings to
[email protected] . We will do our best to list events, time permitting. Please note that we won't be able to, and can't list, everybody.
Reciprocity builds community. We believe in supporting and building community, and we hope our eCalendar will help to further the movement. . We only ask that you spread the word, and support the movement. Hit us up, leave a comment about the eCalendar or a show you saw/performed at. Also, let the artists/organizers that you go the word thru the eCalendar.
