The concept of god’s pager is meant to be taken on several different levels. What would god’s pager sound like, with the whole world calling him, praying for strength, for salvation, for peace, a criss-crossing of all elements of life--different tongues, different languages, different beliefs--all assured their truth is The Path? We wondered how could this be represented sonically. What is the analogy, the metaphor? We thought that perhaps by creating a situation/collective where musicians and poets from different cultures could come together and create, finding a way to interweave their different Spirits, perhaps we could approach this understanding, this communion. So for a brief moment we came together--a Lebanonese guitarist, born near Khalil Gibran’s birthplace; an American ambient musician; and a Liberian-American poet and artist--performing and improvising the work of Beat poet Bob Kaufman, of African-American and Jewish ancestry. We came together to see what we could create. god’s pager continues to be an improvisational group of poets and musicians, exploring work from different traditions.
Every man prays in his own language and there’s no language that God does not understand. – Duke Ellington

pages from the people:
"Your approach of coexistences sounds like what I would call a very genuine "different rooms" attitude. Like all the players were trying to cope with each others across different partitions in between them. This approach seems to me a very harsh but accurate approach to modernity." – Jean Vas Bruler
