About Me

This is not style. This is not fashion. This is Punk.......On the borderline of 1978/1979 spawned Social UnRest. Our suburban origins are something we've never been ashamed of, we wanted to bring Punk from the city streets into the burbs, and that's what we did.The original line-up formed as Doug Logic (guitar), John Vollick (bass), Danny "Radio Shack" Norwood (guitar), Mark "Manslaughter" Monti(drums) and Creetin K-OS (a.k.a. Jason) on vocals.By early 1980, we were playing S.F. shows, as well as out of town. One notable performance was at the Agnews State Hospital in Santa Clara, California to an audience of 150 developmentally disabled. It seemed a common theme at the time for Punk bands in the San Francisco area to play at local asylums and prisons.April 1981 found us touring the length of the West Coast with Britain¹s U.K. Decay. The tour came about after a handful of San Francisco area gigs. Then Social UnRest hit the road with Dead Kennedys and U.K. Decay. We recorded our debut 7" produced by Dead Kennedys guitarist East Bay Ray, and pressed up 500 copies of "Making Room For Youth" in the autumn 1981, backed up by "Join The People Who Joined The Army" and "Rush Hour" on the flip. This debut showcased a sharp unit with great promise, and an intense approach for it's time with catchy and memorable songs. Creetin's faux-Anglicised snarl and the fuzzy chopping guitars where influenced by the bands of the day. It's a real feeling of satisfaction to know that original $2.00 price of this 7" has accrued value beyond it¹s four minute length over the years. All in all SU has realeased 7 records and been featured on various compilations. The band continued to share stages with all their local contemporaries and touring bands passing through, until changes took place soon after the release of Rat In a Maze. Doug Logic (guitar) departed in 1982, and was replaced by James Brogan (SAMIAM founding member/guitarist). In 1983 John Vollick (bass) left and was replaced by Ray Vegas, and in mid 1984 Creetin K-oS left bringing in Jason Honea (vocals). This line-up toured heavily the U.S., Canada and Europe. We even had the opportunity to play Yugoslavia before the split and went through what was East Germany - we got to see what life was like through the communist areas.SOCIAL UnREST are: Danny Norwood-guitars, James Brogan-guitars, Ray Vegas-bass, Gary Gutfeld on drums, and, yes, the mighty Creetin K-oS frontin' the mic. We've been pulled together by Wes Robinson for the Ruthie's Inn reunion show on September 23rd '06 and Gilman Street in Berkeley in '06 which both proved to be overwhelmingly successful. Performing these shows spoke volumes to us that we should play more and record a new record in 2007. We have been busy rehearsing, writing exciting new material (currently looking for a label), booking and soon-to-be playing loads more shows all over. Our recent S. CA shows ROCKED! Look for us elsewhere. Stay tuned......
SHOW STARTS AT 3:00PM
