HUNGRY ASS YOUTH !

Hungry Ass Youth (2007) is Jessie, Flea, and Ted. We are trying to capture the spirit of H.A.Y. 86-88. The way Tony would have wanted it. Tony Castro RIP 61-88.The original Hungry Ass Youth had a short life-span of two years 1986 to 1988, but within those two years they dominated the San Gabriel Valley punk rock scene with angry songs about being overweight. Anthems like "Fat Ass Pride" and "A Million Calories". The band started out summer of 86' by two friends: Tony "mega-gut" Castro and Chris "fish breath" Mendez. They had a vision, and that was to create a band like no other, a band that would appeal to obese social outcasts everywhere. Tony played the bass and did vocals. Fish breath played guitar. It was a few weeks after they started writing songs that they found their drummer; Dan Reyes who was playing for Ultima Venganza at the time. He quit U.V. shortly after joining H.A.Y.. They recorded their first demo tape spring of 87' only 40 copies were made. The sounds H.A.Y. could be heard in backyards all around the SGV area until December of 88' when Tony passed away from heart failure at the age of 27. The band dispersed after the tragedy. Dan moved to Ohio with his family, and Chris was never seen again. In remembrance of my late uncle. I decided to redo the songs.
