About Me

I was born into music in 1955. My grandpa and grandma both played various instruments like fiddle, dobro, guitar, and harmonica. They would play at fish fry’s and family get togethers around South Georgia. My father, Harry Peterson played guitar and sang on the radio in the 1940s around South Texas and Southern California. He taught himself to play steel guitar and recorded and performed with the likes of Ernst Tubb, George Jones and Lefty Frizzle as well as dozens of country bands from San Antonio to Los Angeles and all points in between. My dad taught me my first song on the guitar. That song was Jambalaya by Hank Williams. Music got into my blood and I never looked back.I started working professionally in 1973 playing Country, Blues and Rock clubs throughout the Los Angeles and Orange County areas. I worked with various singers and songwriters as a sideman until 1988. I started my first band as front man and singer/guitarist calling it Dale Peterson and the Lords of Rhythm. Later shortened to the Rhythm Lords. Mixing Blues, Rockabilly and Rock-n-Roll with the sounds of East L.A. We released 4 titles on Rebecca Records. (The Rhythm Lords, Evil, Happy Hour and Lone Wolf). Toured the United States, Canada and Europe before disbanding. In 1999 I recorded my first solo CD, "Full Circle" on Rebecca Records and continued to tour the U.S. and Canada. I started up Root 66 Recording Co. in 2004 with my long time business partner and friend, John Valenzuela and released, "Dale Peterson's Bandera" in 2005. Bandera is a collection of classic country & honky tonk music from the 1950s and 1960s that I remember my father playing in various bands. Some of these songs have been on my own set list since 1973.I just released my new CD, "Son Of Harry" August 2007. "SOH" contains all new original songs that I have written in a honky tonk / roadhouse blues style. I am proud to have some of L.A.’s most talented musicians on this release. People like Mike Molina, Jay Perris and Dale Daniel on drums, Steph Traino on bass guitar, Chris Lawrence and Rick Shea on steel, Dan Janisch and Miguel Garcia on backup vocals, Jesus Cuevas on bass guitar and accordian, Cliff Wagner on fiddle and John "Juke" Logan on piano. In the near future I plan to record a CD of blues covers I have been playing at my shows over the years. I also have a batch of songs ready that I have written in an avant-garde/blues/rock style. I realize I am all over the map in the styles of music I play. I play music that entertains me and I hope people will “Get It”.It’s all just American music to me!
