Southern California has always been a hot bed for roots music. The Hollywood machine was responsible for Gene Autry, Bob Wills & Roy Rogers. Bakersfield brought us Buck Owens and Merle Haggard. Central Avenue was the social hub for African-Americans in post WWII Los Angeles; with Charles Brown, Big Mama Thornton, Johnny Otis, Pee Wee Crayton, T-Bone Walker and Big Joe Turner. Later came Jackson Brown, David Lindly, Captain Beefheart, Los Lobos, the Blasters and the Paladins. The list could go on for days!The rich musical heritage is the inspiration for Root 66 recording company. We want to bring roots music to a public moving further and further from its traditions and music. The Los Angeles roots rock scene is healthy and loaded with talent. Root 66 is working with Los Angeles area musicians and songwriters but also has an ear towards the world stage. We are dedicated to promoting artists who have been flying under the radar. Our focus is on Roots Rock, Blues, Honky Tonk, Rock-a-Billy, Folk, Rock & Roll and Tex-Mex.
