About Me

For News, click here.
Usually sequestered in a corner of the basement converted into a pseudo-project studio, Jason can be found plunking away on a piano, guitar, trombone, tweaking knobs, stomping on pedals, punching notes into a computer, or sketching out some new ideas.
Like many musicians success is fleeting, and he finds himself asking, "What's the point?"
He has to. Like breathing, it's involuntary.
Having been involved in music for some years, Jason's music career has developed in many areas. In addition to his current work as the Associate Director - Auditions for International Programs at the world-renown Berklee College of Music , he leads his own group Bending Dogma , the Berklee Bones (the unofficial Berklee Trombone Ensemble) and is the co-creator and leader of the Big Bang Evolutionary Big Band (BBEBB) . For a number of years, Jason was also the co-leader of The Fenway Brass Art Orchestra .
He also performs with the Carmen Spada's East Meets West" , Mike MacAllister Big Band , the Berklee College of Music Faculty Jazz Composition Big Band and freelances in the greater Boston area as a trombonist. His original compositions and arrangements have been performed by The Fenway Brass Art Orchestra (FBAO), Big Bang Evolutionary Big Band (BBEBB), Phil Wilson's Rainbow Band and Greg Hopkin's Concert Jazz Orchestra. As a trombonist, Jason has performed at the Hue Festival in Hue, Vietnam, Clearwater Jazz Festival, The Caramoor Jazz Festival, the Panama Jazz Festival and Vineyard Vibes. He has performed with groups such as Kimotion , The Ryles Jazz Orchestra, The Kendrick Oliver Band, The Big and Phat Jazz Orchestra, The Boston Horns Big Band, The Boston University Big Band, Picante Salsa, Impacto Latino and at Boston Symphony Hall with Aretha Franklin. Recent recordings include Mike MacAllisters "Finder's Keepers", Christine Fawson's "Happy Talk"' featuring Phil Wilson and Danilo Perez's Panama Suite , which is now available for purchase through Artist Share .
In addition to keeping busy with performing and writing, Jason also spends time doing music notation work using the most current versions of Sibelius and Finale. Be sure to check out "The Music of Hal Crook" and "Beyond Time and Changes" from Advance Music . On a side note, Hal and Jason are still completing work on their board game DICE BUSTER .
Always looking for new challenges, Jason is continually developing all aspects of his music. Some recent excursions include incorporating digital effects with trombone (Mike MacAllister Big Band), compositions for chamber settings (Baby Steps), and more abstract pieces (New Life). For more detailed information about Jason's background feel free to contact him directly at [email protected] .

Influences: Whether it is my iPod or my stacks of vinyl, I am always listening to good "music."

Recently, I have been studying audio engineering and really getting into some new kinds of music. I will post some soon...

Something new for you to check out is Esthero . She is a brilliant artist who may be able to lead pop and rock music to a new level of creativity.

Also, check out this killing Salsa band from Costa Rica -- Son De Tikizia ...and always be sure to take time to dig deeply into FZ and Hal Crook .

I am always interested in new music, thus surfing myspace. Please email me if you have something cool to share.
