About Me

I found this layout design on PureLayouts.com - check out their MySpace Layouts .
First class recording starts long before the equipment, it starts in the THEORY and APPLICATION of technical design principals.
We could go into the long winded math, acoustical equations and empirical justification for the way we designed and constructed our facility. Suffice to say, at West Street Digital, we have a large control room and a smaller tracking room. As more and more performances are typically recorded in the control room, it is relevant to have it be large, comfortable and supremely accurate.

Commonly, nearly everything, with the exception of vocal and acoustic intruments, is performed from within the control room.
This allows artists to hear what the engineer hears, without headphones. It also aids in communication, eliminating the often psychologically-impeding "intercom" method to and from the tracking space. However, vocals and acoustic instruments do need to be recorded, and our tracking space is acoustically isolated and technically smooth in frequency response. Further, by altering our walls via quick change panels, we can change the acoustic flavor of our tracking room dramatically as well as conveniently.

As our name implies, West Street Digital uses the latest in digital recording equipment.
Most "golden ear" experts admit that there is a hardness present with many digital recordings - a lack of overall warmth, due to inferior Analogue signal paths and Analogue to Digital conversion electronics. At WSD, we have a superior ANALOGUE audio pathway from the microphones, through state of the art mic preamps and signal processing, right into to superior Analog to Digital converters. WSD recordings are extremely quiet and tremendously dynamic - never harsh, edgy or bland. WSD creates mixes right to CD, enabling easy duplication and playback anywhere in the world. We also have industry-standard Digital Audio Tape (DAT) and a great analogue 2 track open reel - for those who might wish to master at another facility.

At West Street Digital, we have instruments.
From keyboards (including drum samples and machines) to a fabulous selection of guitars and basses (we love guitars) to a variety of instrument interfaces (guitar and bass amps, direct injection boxes, preamps, microphones, effects boxes, etc.) we have more than you'll need. Plus, if there is something particular you'd like, but we don't have it, we'll make arrangements to get it here for your session.

Finally, WSD has solid relationships with a variety of superb instrumentalists.
If you want session players for your recording, we can arrange for everything from keyboard players to horn sections. At West Street Digital, we start at complete customer satisfaction, and then go quite a ways beyond.

Sounds Like: YOU!
There are a great many reasons we get repeat and new business. We encourage stunning performances, suggest possible alternatives and assist in finding creative solutions to the always challenging process called "recording". We love making music, as well as the application of music and sound to the many media avenues that exist today. We prefer to work closely with our customers; to not only give them what they want to hear, but to explore additional possibilities in arrangements, audio processing and more. We feel it's far superior to discuss and tour options than be in a cold session of "record-play-check please."

Though we're located on a quiet rural road (with incredible views), we're also extremely convenient to get to. Thirty minutes from Burlington, ninety from Montréal, and about four hours from Boston. By eliminating the regular distractions of typical urban life, we allow creativity to flourish, enhancing the artistry of making music.

We invite you to communicate with us. Explain your music, and you and/or your band's goals, styles and instrumentation to us, via e-mail, phone or post. It will be our distinct pleasure to get back to you ASAP, with suggestions for how much time you'll require, what it will cost, and what dates are available.
