"I'm The Next Big Thing"
King John is a Vermont based MC dedicated to the revival of hip hop music. Thriving on the knowledge about the world around him, he drives towards recreating the passion, and artistic form that is, hip hop music. His unique sound, that is true to only himself, derives from not just hip hop but also a wide variety of genres. Hip Hop, Soul, Rock, Classical, RnB, Pop, Punk, and Opera just to name a few. His goal is to not get rich, but merely, allow the listener a chance to take a glance at the world through his eyes.
Born Stephen John Yuric, On February 24th 1988, In Grand Forks North Dakota, King John has lived a far from "average" life. King John comes from a broke home. His parents divorced when he was just 2 years old, and spent the first 11 years of his life, under the guidance of his alcoholic, abusive, drug addicted father. His father was not your poster board father figure. When King John was seven, his father and his step mother at the time, and also his little sister, moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where they lived for just under a year. After that, they moved to Pahrump, Nevada, where they lived for six months, until they moved to Las Vegas, where they lived for 2 years. But once again, due to some family issues, King John was sent to live with his mother in Argyle Minnesota at the age of 11. His mother, who is for all relevant purposes, a recovered alcoholic of 20 plus years, and an active christian, the better parent for his growth and maturity, took him and his sister in with open arms. But due to the death of his grandfather, was once again relocated to Colchester Vermont at the age of 12. Shortly after they settled in, his step father made the decision to move back to Minnesota, forcing King Johns mother to work two jobs, while struggling with teenage hysteria, to support her kids. Which then forced them to move from house to house through the 802 area code, all throughout his high school education.
King John's music career started when he was a little boy. Watching his grandfather play the violin was the first inspiration to becoming what he is today. He got his first guitar when he was 8 years old, and has continued to pick up new instruments to this day. He has played Guitar, Bass, Drums, Cello, Piano, And Violin, mostly self-taught. In 2002, however, King John got his first electric guitar, which inspired him to start his production company, BACKWORDZ RECORDZ, which was founded in the same year. His first album entitled "Fags And Rainbows" was released in 2003, and included 5 songs of him poorly playing guitar and singing, but was his first attempt at producing and writing music. Through the years, King John has released ten different album/demos, floating between rock and hip hop. Through producing those albums, he has struck friends and local fans in his area, which hits such as "P.U.N.K. (Punk Kid Isnt Cool)", "Robbed A Nigga", "RIP Caleb", "Bow Down", "802 Raise Up!", "I'll Be Waiting", "Call Me King John," And Most Recognized For "In The Toybox", which featured his sister Nikki Goodrich on a vocal hook. After all that, King John went on to become an MC for the burlington based band, "FUNKWAGON" which finally gave him a chance to meet real music heads, and also a chance to perform on stage with a full band. King John shortly left the band though, due to mental instability and personal life events.
King John just released his eleventh album entitled "THE SJY MIXTAPE" which is a continuation to the very popular "What The 'S' Stands For" 2005 hip hop success. Which, irrelevantly, wound up getting him kicked out of high school, and in trouble with the law. The future for King John looks very promising, and even though discouragement and insecurities are his downfall, there seems to be no end in sight for his music career. LONG LIVE THE KING JOHN NATION!!!!
