Currently Boston based, The Conniption Fits formed in 2003 when Former Motorplant singer Steve Blanchard hooked up with bass player Erik Von Geldern. The two wrote and recoded the songs “Did It Too Easilyâ€, “Agony Of Defeat†and “All I’ve Found†available on the group’s first album. Erik met Seth Roya while attending college at Johnson State in Vermont. Seth then joined The Conniption Fits in 2004 bringing his showmanship and flare for drumming to the group. The Fits have since released their first full length CD, “Aiplane Ridesâ€, which has received tons of local airplay and a front-page review in the Manchester Union Leader (Jan 25-29 weekend edition 2007). “Airplane Rides†continues to sell very well and is available on iTunes (and many other digital music stores) as well as record stores nationwide. The group is currently working on a much anticipated follow up record due out in 2008.
The album "Airplane Rides" was written and recorded over the period of three years. "This album has been refined many times", says vocalist Steve Blanchard, "We have really put our souls into this and then went back for that extra 10%." The CD does not let down. From the first track to the last it ebbs and flows always capturing a specific emotion and building on it. Upbeat rock tunes like "Play To Win" and "Did It Too Easily" lend a brilliant contrast to the mournful longing of "Exit Breath" and the contemplative "Poor Johnny Ray". The production is top-notch adding a crystal clear finish to these well produced songs. We can expect big things in the future from The Conniption Fits.
With Motorplant, Steve Blanchard (vocals guitar) has performed more than 1500 shows and has shared stages with acts like Fastball, Blue Oyster Cult, Mountain, Warrant, Cinderella and 3 Doors Down to name a few. He has had songs on MTV and ESPN’s X-Games as well as national radio. Erik Von Geldern (bass) and Seth Roya (drums) have been performing for years in and out of the studio. They have both completed music degrees at Johnson State College in Vermont.
