When the much-loved Colonel Pemberton was killed, I took over the operation from him, and soon encountered the Doctor wandering the Underground tunnels. Following the Yeti invasion, I was promoted to Brigadier, I grew a moustache, and was put in charge of UNIT. When the third Doctor was exiled to Earth, i decided to invite him to join UNIT as its scientific adviser, and so we worked closely together for years. As a military man, i accustomed to order, structure and obedience, and is therefore frequently bewildered and annoyed with the Doctor's subversive and haphazard methods. Although i valued the Doctor's help, and the Doctor appreciates my friendship and resources, we both frequently butt heads. I have always had a quick temper, and am easily infuriated by anything i perceives as incompetence or disobedience. There are frequently times when I just can't figure out what on earth the Doctor is talking about, and my frustration with myself usually redirects itself into anger at the Doctor!I am a very stubborn person, both in following orders - as any good military man should be - and in holding my own in arguments with the Doctor. I am also quite opinionated, and once i have made up my mind about something, it is difficult to sway him. Sometimes Jo, with her puppy-dog eyes and gentle voice, has more luck with me, but more argumentative Doctor and Liz are usually out of luck. However, I almost always yields to authority, and if my superiors advise me to do something, i obey.My motto seems to be "when in doubt, blow it up!" The Doctor, of course, is vehemently opposed to it, but I would rather destroy a potentially dangerous enemy than treat it with kid gloves and be killed later. I do, however, bemoan the fact that most of the alien creatures i encounter are impervious to bullets!But for all our conflicts, i am very loyal to the Doctor, and am willing to do anything i can to help, as long as it does not contradict my standing orders. Generally I put all of my resources at the Doctor's disposal, because i trust the Doctor deeply and know that the Doctor's methods get results. Amusingly, I am by nature a skeptical person, and although my mind is hugely broadened by my time in UNIT, i am still initially unwilling to believe some of the more outlandish things i experience (such as being transported to alien worlds).Eventually i retired from UNIT, replaced by Colonel Crichton, and began teaching mathematics at Brendon public school, where one of my students - the shifty Turlough - ends up joining the Doctor on his travels. I retired from teaching and began a peaceful domestic life with my wife Doris, although I remain on inactive duty in case my help is ever needed again... width="425" height="350" ..Now ive only seen one of the drs regenerations, but i actually found them on the internet;.. width="425" height="350" ..
