Movies:

All classics (The Haunting, Cluny Brown, Rebecca, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Notorius, Now Voyager, The Great Escape, Bringing Up Baby, A Clockwork Orange, Barbarella, The Great Train Robbery etc etc) , huge budget eye-candy, quirky independent, film noir, weird stuff from other countries, quality comedies. Guy Ritchie, Christopher Guest, Peter Weir, Tim Burton, Christopher Nolan, Luis Bunuel...any sci-fi, no matter how lame...except for Battleship Earth, which is beyond lame.

Television:

I'd love to be cool and say I don't watch tv; but I can't lie and be pretentious as pretention is unattractive. I'm especially fond of purple prosed trash tv like Veronica Mars, Buffy, House, Eureka, etc et al. True favorites include Sopranos, Deadwood, Carnivale, Lost, Gilmore Girls, The Wire, House, Weeds, Monk. Oh, and of course Invader Zim and Rocko's Modern Life continue to rule. Finally: The Simpsons, South Park, Family Guy feed my dark soul.

Books:

Neal Stephenson is a GOD. Quicksilver, The Confusion and System of the World changed my life. Cryptonomicon was the icing on the cake. I also enjoy Jeff Long (The Descent) Stephen King, Margaret Atwood (Alias, Grace), E. Annie Proux (The Shipping News), J. K. Whatshername, Kate Akinson (Behind the Scenes at the Museum), Philip Pullman (can't wait to see the movies), Carlos Fuentes (Terra Nostra) , Lewis Carroll, Umberto Eco (Foucault's Pendulum), Alice Hoffman, Sue Townsend (The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole age 13 3/4), Shirley Jackson (We Have Always Lived in This Castle), Garth Nix, Mark Helprin (A Winter's Tale.) Magical realism, fantasy, sci-fi, horror. Anything that isn't Dan Freaking Brown.

Heroes:

Giant Squid, Godzilla, the Loch Ness Monster, Yeti and of course, Pixel.

A huge tree blew over in the park last night. A Wendigo, perhaps? in any case, there's more sunshine in my kitchen.

Fishy

He started as a lowly zygote in a carney's murky tank. His chilhood was bleak. Many of his friends were devoured by the adults. Those who survived, like Fishy, were given their own globular condos. ...
