I grew up on the funky, funky streets of East Oakland, during the 80's, where I learned how to rely on myself in any situation. I've made so many friends and lived in Los Angeles almost as long now, but I will always remember the Bay and the friends I've made there the best. I seek to affect all people through art, and also to change the political climate of this country through rap music and Hip Hop (living in the East Bay tends to do that). Growing up in East Oakland gave me not only a deep respect for other artists and musicians, but also how the history of places like Oakland ties into the greater picture and how places can be changed practically overnight for better and for worse... It's never as good as it can be, and it's never as bad as it can get yet. I started music at an early age, playing violin and trombone because my parents wanted me too, but once I discovered Jazz and Hip Hop there was no keeping me away from then on. I've practiced many styles through the years, from Punk to Fusion, Jazz to Hip Hop, but it always seems to come full circle back to rap. Especially the early eighties and nineties styles of some of my heroes growing up, when cats were just relaying their takes on different shit through their words. I started working with Avatar and Big Shame (big Dakh, Bretty B, Opium P, cats from GAL and TFG) in '92; in what was then the O.E.S. crew, which eventually evolved into ConEl. The Wayward Saints project is moving along as well as Sound Logic (which you can take a listen to here ) featuring work by DJ Rylo, Presto, Avatar and myself. I've been keeping myself busy, too, working with LA Underground luminaries Avatar ( Dump Truck Records ), and the elusive DJ Obi (DJ Obi.com) . Since living in LA, I have worked with the very talented and illustrious People under the Stairs (P.U.T.s. Online.co.uk) , and finished the 2006 album Recipe for Disaster: (which you probably just heard!)(courtesy: Cosmic Truckaz.com ). I've continued to work with Shapeshifters and LA2theBay as well.
