Seppo, Jemina and Selina Sillanpää are famous for their fresh new attitude of playing a mixture of folk music from various countries and original songs and combining it all in their own original way.
Back in Finland, the family has been steadily developing their professional, educational, and musical endeavors. Sillanpääs first started performing as a folk trio in 1995 but their musical co-operation goes back to playing and recording original childrens music in the early 90s.
Since 1995 the Sillanpääs have perfomed as a trio and travelled and played in USA 1995, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2005 and 2006.
In 2003 the Sillanpääs put out an all-English album Band'o which featured modern acoustic folk music and original compositions by all three Sillanpääs. The CD helped to form a group Band'o adding Seppos skilled musical pals Olli Haavisto, Janne Viksten and Tom Nyman to the group.
In the spring of 2006 Band'o recorded another album called Away. It is a bilingual album focusing on Finnish and American singer/songwriter folk music and Jeminas and Selinas new compositions. It explores different ways to combine old tradition with modern sound.
