Our pediatrician Dr. Alex Kramer of West Covina, sent us with our baby to see a specialist. Dr. Goldie of Covina. It seemed like a dream at first, that this could not really be happening to us! I could not believe my baby would really stop breathing at any moment and be gone. It felt like a spear had pierced my heart. Then suddenly, a picture came into my mind. I saw my child's pain. It was with Jesus on the cross. Then I saw something that I had never seen before. All the wisdom and knowledge of the entire universe was there in Jesus' eyes. Inside myself, I heard these words. God said, "Will you trust me?".... My husband was so upset by the news, he abruptly left the office. When we met again in the parking lot, my husband and I, decided to take a stand together for our son's life and trust in God together.
Several months later, our son was still alive. But it felt like someone had punched me in the stomach, when reality hit. I couldn't bare to look at my baby, knowing he could die and be gone at any moment. A month later, I was at home alone with my baby, when his breathing failed. Just before it happened, these words came to me. I heard God say, "Take him to the hospital." The doctor said if I had arrived ten minutes later, Kenny would have died. He was placed on oxygen and sent to Children's Hospital LA, California where he was placed on a ventilator.....
Test results came back that revealed our son had Spinal Muscular Atrophy. A doctor said, "Any child that cannot run, walk or play, shouldn't live." The doctors believed our son had no potential for living. So they wanted the ventilator removed. The doctors who fought so hard save lives said, "If a child had a chance in a million, we would fight for him. But he doesn't even have a chance in a million!" But Jesus said, "There is no greater love, than to lay down your life for a friend"
Doctors began holding high pressure meetings with us, to convince us to let Kenny die. It was inhumane to let our child live this way, they said. But we refused to give in. A nurse that I had never seen before, decided to take Kenny's life. I watched from behind a curtian while washing my hands. She didn't see me. I watched unknowingly, when she violated the rules of cleanliness and contaminated our son. It was only later when I realized she had broken proper medical procedures. Kenny came down with life threatening pnuemonia after that. He started dying. Test results came back. I was told by a doctor and a nurse both, that Kenny had been contaminated by someone. He became so sick, that the doctor said he would die within a couple of hours.
But his Father knelt by his bed and prayed. And within an hour, the fever broke.
A sign was placed over Kenny's hospital bed by the church. It said, "We love you Baby Kenny."
I was praying in the hospital chapel, when I heard these words and God said to me, "The battle's not yours. It's Mine!" And a great sense of peace came inside of me then.
Kenny's doctor then, Dr. Galvis, said that Kenny was taking up a bed space that another child with more potential could use. He also said, "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few." I told Dr. Woo what had been said to me. She didn't agree with Dr. Galvis' statements.There are women and children today who are being treated as having no potential or value. Women and children are dying from abuse of porn and prostitution. They are being beaten, threatened, mutilated, raped and murdered in the United States. Also in Africa, Russia, Asia, London and around the world. They are being dehumanized and treated less than human. Kidnapped, lured away and sold, these are slave prostitutes. It's not just a rarity anymore in the US. It's an epidemic. Women and children need someone who will stand up for them. When Kenny later developed a blockage in his airway. Suddenly, the blockage disappeared! "I have never seen a miracle in my life before, but I have seen one now! This is medically impossible!" said Dr. Thompson, an E.N.T. doctor. Kenny had more value and potential to God, than many people had realized.
Finally, after 5 months in the hospital, Kenny went home. It felt like being released from a prison and being set free!!!! We are thankful and appreciative to all the wonderful medical staff that helped us at Children's Hospital, Los Angeles.
But after we got home, while I was out away at the store, a nurse took the ventilator off Kenny, while I was shopping. I heard these words at the store come inside me all of a sudden. God said to me, "Go home immediately!" When I got home, Kenny was near death.
Paramedics arrived and tried to revive Kenny, but it was too late. His heart was about to take it's last beat. He was put into an ambulance and the paramedics phoned the Emergency Room. They stated that Kenny, "will be expired on arrival." He turned from white and then grey, in the ambulance.
Kenny would be pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. I prayed then, "God, I ask you one more time, to save Kenny. Amen." When I opened my eyes, I saw all the color return to his lifeless body! His eyes opened up and he began looking around. A paramedic started shouting, "He came back, he came back! I can't believe it! He came back!"
Kenny is still paralyzed today. But his life and story have helped many people realize that their lives have more value and potential than they ever thought they had.
