Une semaine d’hystérie made in USA was born from the desire of shouting and from the frustration of having to retain itself to avoid being classified in the «hysterical» category. There is none militant claim (political, social, ecological, etc.) except maybe the acceptance which the woman evolves, still explores what it is possible to be and can now leave her image of woman as an object (soft, delicate and diplomatic) to be, inter alia, as forces and aggressive as masculine. This work is a need to exteriorize a clash which is not possible to solve in the real life by howling its anger in the form of a monologue, without never letting answer its interlocutor. I watched and recorded the dialogues of three American serials (TheYoung and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful and Days of Our Lives) for a week. I selected the most intense arguments and only kept the female dialogues to turn them into a monologue where I would never be vexed by the counter-attacks of Jack, Victor or Stefano. I play out the dialogues of the heroines with another intensity, that which I wanted to give to my arguments. The use of this language, a simple and efficient translation of the American, French out of context, gives this argument the burlesque side that I am looking for in my work.

This video was made during an artists’ residency in a distillery in Scotland organised by artconnexion and the brand Glenfiddich for their gallery in Dufftown. It shows what we experienced during the residency: the barriers of language, the tourism around the distillery, the environment and theva lues of the Glenfiddich brand. The video presents an intensive English course and we personify the actors of these lessons.

EEDM – Eastern European Dating Meregate, 20’, DV pal

EEDM – Eastern European Dating Meregate was made during a residency in Margate in September and October 2007. It’s a false documentary, mixing at the same time autofiction, the stage setting of the heavy atmosphere of Margate, autofilming and a subject of current affairs: the trafficking of Eastern European girls. In this false report, a journalistic team tries to investigate Madam Natasha, the founder of the false dating agency « EEDM « or «Eastern European Dating Meregate». A series of interviews follow each other, between two brothers who are victims of the swindle in the false profiles of the Eastern girls, the meeting in candid camera with Madam Natasha, the narrative of its ex-assistant, the testimony of the owner of the B&B involved in a dirty story of prostitution and the interview of an ex-prostitute. This video was shot in the English language of the foreigners. I wrote the dialogues using a dictionary and an internet translator. All actors are foreign and this false documentary is marked by a patchwork of accents, very representative of Margate.

This video is part of a work (composed of videos and digital images) which shows a young girl in her everyday life. Her disappointment in reality has pushed her to recreate a virtual life where her social relations are purely imaginary and mimed. Girl of my dream represents the image that the young girl has of herself as a dancer. She thinks she is talented, but as her choreography and her flexibility are relatively bad, her dance lesson ends badly since she injures her foot and abandons her lesson crying.
