I
lived the first half of my life in
the shadow of San Francisco. It
was a great place to live and I
spent most of my teen years
hanging in The City, going to
concerts and being rebellious. The
last place I
lived in the Bay Area
was on an antique 1955 wooden
Chris Craft boat
with my cat Atticus
Finch. But spending 3 hours a day
commuting was
totally moof so I
packed my bags, my cat and
headed for the Sierra
Mountains.
That was 17 years ago.
These days I am hanging my hat in my old stomping ground of Alameda, CA. Just 9 short miles from San Francisco, one of the most amazing places in the world. It' good to be home again.
My
first book was published
September 2006 by Collectors
Press. It's
called 70s Fashion
Fiascos. While it is about fashion, I
wanted it to
be deeper than the
clothes. What I ended up with is
part fashion, part
social
commentary. It's received nothing
but positive reviews -- with
Brazil
being particularly ennamored. More
books are
currently in the works.
I'm
also a Contributing Writer for
powerHouse
Magazine , published
by powerHouse
Books . It's a
relatively new publication from a
seasoned
publisher. If you like
artsy, creative and totally hot, it's
well worth
checking out. In
addition, they operate
powerHouse
Arena,one
of the
twelve places to see in the New
York Times’ 36 Hours:
Photography in New York City
(and of course on MySpace ).
The
truth is, I can babble about powerHouse all day. I can't
tell you how
thrilled I am to be involved with them. I get to
work with one of the
most divine Managing Editor/Publishers
in the
world. Seriously! I am spoiled rotten because I get to
work
with Sara Rosen, known in New York circles are Miss
Rosen. She's
outrageous and amazingly talented. I'm in awe.
In between it all I have an
online vintage clothing shop (which
is severely neglected right now). I
also do freelance web design.
