About Me

I live out in the woods in a log cabin. I write, do artwork, play music. I also do consulting on local history, some genealogy, preservation of the old photos left here by my father and grandfather. I have three pet cats. I enjoy eating, and it's fortunate that I don't enjoy cooking hardly at all or I'd eat way too much!

This ad is a link to my big store over at CafePress where I have over 1000 different designs. Do visit! Thanks.

This ad is for making a shop like mine over at CafePress, only you'd be doing your own designs and in your own way. Great place for a musician to make band tee shirts, or for an activist to make tee shirts for their own cause. Very easy to use.

My home page This has links to all of my CafePress shops, all of the lenses at Squidoo, all of the lessons I posted at Wholenote and a number of other items. Enjoy!

You are The Moon

Hope, expectation, Bright promises.

The Moon is a card of magic and mystery - when prominent you know that nothing is as it seems, particularly when it concerns relationships. All logic is thrown out the window.

The Moon is all about visions and illusions, madness, genius and poetry. This is a card that has to do with sleep, and so with both dreams and nightmares. It is a scary card in that it warns that there might be hidden enemies, tricks and falsehoods. But it should also be remembered that this is a card of great creativity, of powerful magic, primal feelings and intuition. You may be going through a time of emotional and mental trial; if you have any past mental problems, you must be vigilant in taking your medication but avoid drugs or alcohol, as abuse of either will cause them irreparable damage. This time however, can also result in great creativity, psychic powers, visions and insight. You can and should trust your intuition.

My Interests

Cats (Spooky, Jester & Bob), gardening (flowers, veggies, herbs, fruits), music (listening), music (playing keyboards, guitar, bass, accordian, violin, and composing), genealogy (Chisholm, Royle, Howe, Whitfield, Lyon, Becker, Lewis, Matheson), reading (a lot), artwork (including calligraphy), dragons, unicorns. Also a smattering of other interests including: astronomy, astrology, divination, computers (both Mac & PC),ecology/nature, sewing (and embroidery and other decorative arts), SCA (Aine of Erchless from Madrone area), cooking (minor, but I gotta eat--at least no one has died from it yet), and I'm sure I could come up with several dozen more. Later.

I'd like to meet:

Friends to talk to, people with similar interests in the arts, musicians to jam with, Wiccans.

Music:

Rock, new age, world, and a wide sampling of everything else. Favorite bands/musicians include: Aerosmith, David Bowie, Peter Frampton, Alice Cooper, Neil Diamond, Andreas Vollenweider, David Lanz & Paul Speer, Kitaro, David Arkenstone, Jeff Beck, The Doors, Steve Vai, Heart, Queen, Queensryche, Rolling Stones, Harry Belafonte, and long list of others. Basically, I have a philosophy that I'll at least *attempt* to listen to almost anything *once*. I've had some nice surprises. Some of the friends on my friends list play stuff I could have sworn I'd hate, but which I found to be okay. Of course, there has been plenty of stuff which went the other way and the "once" was the last I ever wanted to hear it. (If I hit the "skip" or "stop" button 20 seconds into a song, it isn't coming back.)

Movies:

Some of my favorites, in random order: Hunt for Red October, Labyrinth, Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, Star Wars (all six), Matrix trilogy, Blade trilogy, Galaxy Quest, Ghostbusters, Silverado,Harry Potter movies (all four), Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Linguini Incident, Outbreak, Police Academy (all six of them), Toys. Sci-Fi, Adventure, & Humor basically. I also really like music videos: Making of Pump (Aerosmith), Big Ones (Aerosmith), S&M (Metallica & SF Symphony Orchestra), Glass Spider (David Bowie), Live in Detroit (Peter Frampton), Pulse (Pink Floyd), Live at the Max (Rolling Stones), Eric Clapton: Crossroads Guitar Festival.

Television:

I'm enjoying old shows on DVD: The Monkees, The Muppets, Red Dwarf. Babylon 5. Fawlty Towers. (Especially Red Dwarf.) Don't watch much live TV, though.

Books:

Favorites would include "Women Who Run With the Wolves" by Clarissa Pinkola Estes (nonfiction), the Valdemar novels by Mercedes Lackey, The Chanur/Compact Space novels by C.J. Cherryh, and many others.

Ghost Toasties

Once upon a time a long time ago this last summer, my renter's ex-girl-friend moved out and the stuff she didn't take with her ended up in my livingroom.  I figured we would have as fringe "benef...
