Even in Midwinters' gloom the Helleborus bloom.

About Me

I grew up in the wilds of northern Minnesota. I spent most of my days roaming through forests, prairies, and snowbanks, so I gained a deep appreciation for nature. Mother Nature taught me a lot about my own creativity, so as a child I was very creative. Even then I loved to sing, draw, and write.I am a vocalist, lyricist, and artist. Music and art are my lifelong passions, and I am working on my first cd. I also play piano and cedar flute. Music is such a powerful creative force, and through this universal language my soul is able to express itself. *Some additional things about me... I would love to one day visit Europe where the music scene is awesome. I paint in acrylics. I love the freedom of paint flowing on a canvas. (The pics in the song boxes are mine.). I also like to watch movies, read, and go hiking in the mountains. I have a degee in Ecology and Environmental Science, and am the garden designer for a very haunted historical home. I think there is a lot of wisdom in the Native American culture and it makes me sad that so much has been lost. I think the use of capitalism has gotten out of hand in this country. I believe in living simply for my income level, and like to ask myself before I buy something if it is worth the extra hours I will have to work to buy it. (more work=less time for family, art, and music). * Favorite saying: Do not let the judgements of others limit you, for only you can define yourself. Trust yourself and follow your heart. -Melanie* Who I'd like to meet: I have been lucky enough to meet most of my major musical influences, but I always enjoy meeting new people. Two people I would liked to have met are Frank Fools' Crow and Tahca Ushte. This world could use more wisdom like those two had.

Band Members: Helleborus is:*Melanie Myhre* : vocals, piano, cedar flute *Scott Tiede*: guitars, bass, drums, backing vocalsAll songs on this page are copywrited. We are open to collaboration with other musicians so if you hear something you like, feel free to leave us a message. All paintings on this page are my original works and may not be reproduced, although they are available for sale.
Influences: Life is a constrast between Beauty and the Beast. Mother Nature herself embodies these qualities. Often 'negative' circumstances provide opportunity for growth. Beauty blooms from the Beast, and sometimes Beauty is the Beast in disguise. All events and people in my life have made me the person I am today. Musicans and bands who have influenced me include Tuomas Holopainen and the other members of Nightwish, John Two-Hawks, Sarah McLachlan, Amy Lee, Doro, Tristania, Sharon den Adel, Loreena McKinnett, Blackmores' Night, Elis, Epica, Olivia Newton-John, Madonna, Jewel, many Celtic musicians, and many eighties rock bands.
