Planet Indigo is a Edmonton based Dj collective, with expansions into Calgary. We follow in the efforts of the Dance culture and up hold the qualities of true Humanity. We stand as an influential sound crew, intent to please the dance floor and expand sound knowledge in all senses of the phrase. Based largely in the Break Beat and Electro movements Planet Indigo provides events with headliners as such but not exclusive to,Planet Indigo always maintains a focus on dance floor friendly sounds and good vibe situations. DJ PHIFE a.ka MC Gain: Tribe Called Quest and Jurassic 5 really turned me on to the lyrical talents that can be achieved. Speaking rhymes with positive messages and encouraging themes these two groups mad me fall heavy into hip hop. On the other hand funk and 80's rock were listened to by my parents- and singer, songwriters like Eric Clapton and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band introduced me to the acoustic guitar. The Party scene exploded in the 90's in E-town and Jungle quickly became the music and dance style of choice. My old foundations led me to the funky breaks arena and I have remained there since. Spinning a funky Breaks mash up style and spitting a conscious jungle jump up style on the mic. Always with a mind for sample dropping and stepping up the over all production and activity on the Dj stage I try to bring more to the tables than just beat matching and the occasional scratch. Loving the dance floor as much as the decks I am first of all a party kid who loves to make it happen on the floor, alongside my favorite fellow rug cutters. The Electronic music scene is and will always be a part of my life. If Iâ€™m not frequenting the clubs as a patron or Dj I will be making beats and writing rhymes. The love for music will always flow from me and I will share it with every one around as much as it is physically, mentally and spiritually possible. May the funk be with you and let the bass line provide.
