RONALD TAVERNER awakes on a houseboat in the Lake Mead. Stricken with amnesia. He quickly discovers that he is embroiled in a conspiracy to kidnap and impersonate his twin brother ROLAND. Under the orders of a radical extremist group called NEO-MARXISTS. As Roland embarks on his joureny to Los Angles with his escort, ZORA CHARMICHAELS, he finds that he has a pyschic connection to BOXER SANTAROS, a movie star who has also been stricken with amnesia. Meanwhile, Boxer, Krysta, and Fortunio have arrived in the city of Palmdale, where they begin to follow the clues hidden the prophetic screenplay called THE POWER.
