Matthew Schievella is no stranger to the game. "Magic", as he's now known, never let his rural New England heritage stand in the way of his dream of becoming an established hip hop producer. A fan of Gangsta Rap since its conception, the sophomore student of piano and woodwind instruments
quickly worked his way to aspiring composer, and,in 1998 purchased his first Yamaha keyboard.======Magic, a hungry freestlye rapper at the time, soon realized that he wanted more than just the opportunity spit rhymes, and set his sights on a stable career in music. After graduating High School in 2000,-Magic eagerly enrolled at Full Sail -school of media outside Orlando, FL, a school renowned for
its"Recording Arts" program. Schievella excelled at Full Sail, not only completing his Associates degree in 2003, but learning invaluable engineering, management, and marketing techniques to add to his already natural talent for production. His first year of school complete, Matt,- or "Tactiks" as he was known at Full Sail, chose New England as a temporary homebase for his next endeavor--his own studio, arsenal of artists and record label.======Matt started realistically, enlisting 2 longtime rapper friends, TRiP'L and Morals, both natives of New England, to spit with him over his original instrumentals. He composed and recorded music almost round the clock during his layoff from school, giving both Trip'l and Morals studio quality demosto shop. He could now almost taste success and, anxious to become his own boss yet too ambitious to settle for mediocrity, Magic returned to Full Sail in 2005 to complete his Bachelors Degree in Entertainment Business. His final year at Full Sail proved well worth it, and Matt, in addition to working at various studios in Orlando, helped spearhead a benefit for victims of Hurricane katrina. The benefit, featuring American Idol finalist Jessica Sierra and numerous other acts, outperformed even Matt's expectation's, beating out all rival
colleges and raising over $20,000 for the city of New Orleans.======Upon graduation, armed with his new education, Matt landed a coveted internship at Platinum Sound Studios with Wyclef Jean. Soaking up everything he could, Matt sat in on numerous heavyweight sessions, and even assisted Wyclef and Shakira's smash hit,"Hips Don't Lie". Invited to stay on full time at Platinum Sound when his internship was up, Matt graciously decined 'Clef's offer so he could further explore entrepreneurship. His plan was to create an independent website/record label and he would pop it off by releasing a full length debut for his homie TRiP'L. TriP, fresh off a wack record deal in Las Vegas that had left him broke and without material, remained determined to succeed and returned to New England now known as TRiPsleezy. The new name came from his Vegas clique, NUHOP, and Sleezy brought that swagger with him. TRiP and Matt hooked up with Thomas Heckler, another beatmaker native to New England, late in 2005, and, after establishing VERBALMUNITION LLC with his fiance Margaret Corthouts, he signed both TRiP and Heck to an independent, one album deal.======The recording of TRiP's LP took place in 3 different states, with tracks being recorded at HecklerHouse Studios, VerbalMunition Studios, and the final mixing at Matt's home studio outside NYC. Production endured through the winter and early spring 2006, during which time Sleezy gave Matt the name, "Magic", because of his impeccable post-production creativity. Magic was on a roll, and in July of 2006 his record label and website officially kicked off as the exclusive retail outlet for "LOWLIFE", TRiPsleezy's fully mastered 12 track debut. Magic also pocketed his first executive producer credit, in addition to lending backup vocals during Sleezy's live promotion of the the project. Verbalmunition.com had proved it could compete as an independent label.======"LOWLIFE" garnered much attention on MYSpace, and Magic, TRiP and Heck continued to market and share their music on the network, gaining support and making industry contacts. Now permanently located in West New York, NJ, Magic, moonlighting for Velvetlist, a mega- club promotion company in NYC,met Bronx rapper, ELUS through their mutual friend, Heck, in fall 2006. Magic produced numerous tracks with 'Lus, and in November 2006, Elus' Magic laced New York anthem, "B.R.O.N.X." went into rotation on Music Choice Satellite radio. Magic was finally enjoying his first morsel of commercial success, when Sleezy approached him in December 2006 with another project proposal. "LOWLIFE" had caught the attention of a Detroit mixtape Dj,and Sleezy was offered to
drop his own mixtape, hosted by DJ Mumblez, whose past credits included two mixtapes with ROYCE DA 5'9". Magic and Heck would help Sleezy with his mixtape, using a few tracks he had just finished with VerbalMunition, in
addition to tracks from Heck and Detroit's own Asar. ======Before they could even finish the tape, the first single, "Not A Gangsta", produced by Magic for VerbalMunition, went into rotation on Music Choice. Magic had another hit. Currently putting the finishing touches
on "DJ MUMBLEZ PRESENTS THE SLEEZY MIXTAPE: REAL SLEEZY" set to be released late March 2007, and with plans to put out another Sleezy project with Verbalmuntion, Magic has his sights set on making more hits in 2007 and
beyond. Armed with his Golden Child, Sleezy, and a stockpile of beats, Magic's next move could be the one that catapults him to super stardom!======For Booking or Contact info, reach Mschievella or [email protected]
