Nasty was born Dennis Maniatakis on May 1st, 1985 in Athens, Greece. Dennis started writing his own lyrics when he was just 12 years old. At the age of 14, Nasty’s crude lyrics earned him the name people know him by today. Many of his early work contained gruesome descriptions of sex and violence. Although it could have been Nasty’s way of expressing inner torment, critics were still harsh when they judged his music. Nasty heard people exclaim that he would never get signed to a label on more than one occasion. At the age of 17 Nasty released his debut, self-titled album. He would spend the next 2 years recording songs for various mixtapes. Nasty and his family moved back to Greece during this time. In 2005, Nasty moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan, and dedicated his time to making music. That same year Nasty released two albums, The Reserection and What’s Mah Name. His popularity in Ypsilanti and the surrounding areas increased when people started listening to his music. Even critics back in Chicago agreed that Nasty’s skill had improved tremendously. Currently, Nasty lives in Athens, Greece and is signed to Grand Royal Productions. Aside from performing live in various venues in Athens, he is also working on his fourth album. While Nasty is known mostly as a recording artist, he recently started producing instrumentals.
