From tot to teenage years... Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Louis Armstrong and especially Wayne Newton(thanks to my Sister), all the hippy trippy stuff from the Sixties (thanks to my Mother)... I love it... Yeah! Yeah! Yeah...Beatles and Elvis etc...Mum also had an awesome music collection of various artists as well... it would take me an hour to list all the Artists here...Slim Dusty, Glen Campbell and Charlie Pride(thanks to my Grandparents and Radio 4ZR, the GP's local station)as for singing I have fond memories of my Father crooning tunes to me. At 15 I gained employment as a DJ in Coolangatta, Queensland (only chick in the history of the venue at the time actually, don't worry I was only a wild child for a few years, according to the Parents) ...incharge of the playlist...laughing out loud...The Angels, INXS and Cold Chisel ruled and of course whatever was high on the hit parade...lets just say the vibe around home changed at that point too...my family nearly moved out until they insisted I wear headphones...music really influenced how I dressed and did the hair too...the first radio gig I landed I got off a greyhound bus with pink hair... not joking(although I missed the sorta re-emergin punk scene in Brisvegas... that some of my friends were exploring whilst tackling Uni studies... my hair didn't)anyway by the end of the week I was blonde... long story... it was a good trip being blonde for awhile and I soon forgave my friend for stuffing up my hair colour...as for music more playlist stuff...life became commercial...know what I mean...and heaps of country/hill billy and a taste of rockabilly - love that tear in the beer music still... typical format for a country radio station... plus plenty of U2, Van Morrison, Boz Scaggs, Sting, Renee Geyer, Kate Ceberano and 50/60/70/80's music... between the late 80's and the mid 90's I zoned out heaps from commercial music and experienced alot of Gospel music. Eventually I turned my hand to the print media at various outlets and I continue where possible to document parts of the journey of most that 'BE' on my e-pages. I have a well of creativity within that I tap into through various personal projects I am pursuing, slow burn... All my Saints,The Cure, Rock Legends, U2, Tony Bennett, Kurt Elling, Lloyd Cole, Boz Scaggs, Powderfinger/Bernard Fanning, Vince Jones, Jazz/Blues cd's are housed on the topshelf in my living room at home, the family is exposed constantly to the sound of the collection. Seriously and sincerely as I wind up my dialogue here...I love music by musicians that have a sense of self and can communicate the journey!
Myself! Don't we all desire this... Life is a Journey! Clear the Clutter! You find YOU!Okay... Tony Bennett!
