The South Saturn Delta sound goes back to the roots of Blues-influenced Rock'N'Roll with a particularly tasty Southern flavor. With influences ranging from Classic Southern Rock sound of The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Black Crowes & CCR, to the Blues sounds of BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, ZZ Top & Jimi Hendrix to the Classic 60's & 70's English sound of Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones & Cream... SSD creates a sound as thick as an Alabama swamp!
South Saturn Delta evolved from a band that was first formed in the latter days of the Summer of 2005 in Dora, Alabama. This project aimed to merge a hurricane of blues licks, whiskey-soaked vocals, and a freight train of bass and drums into a place that felt like home.
With a few key lineup changes, that band became South Saturn Delta, reflecting both the new look and line-up of the band and a brand new attitude. The current lineup includes long-time members on guitar & vocals,Andy Richardson on drums, Andrew Mills on bass, as well as local music veterans Michael Eskew on the keys, guitar & vocals, and Joseph Dorough on lead guitar & vocals.
SSD is poised to take the Alabama music scene by storm! Having already enjoyed significant success with their regular gigs at clubs all Central Alabama, the boys have headlined major events including the Sloss Furnace Stokin The Fire and opening for legendary musicians such as The Charlie Daniels Band, Marshall Tucker Band, Georgia Satellites...and, yes, even Kid Rock at Verizon Music Center Amphitheater in Birmingham!!!
