Pamelina H. - Fantasy Artist

About Me

Because of the holidays, I've let my friend requests slip by. If you put in a request and didn't receive a response, please put in another request. Sometimes I just get too busy....
I'm a free-lance artist working in Los Angeles, Ca. Throughout my career, I've remained independent and working in my own studio. There are many reasons why I've done this, not the least of which was to stay home to raise my son.
I found out at an early age that I was happier to be painting and poor, rather than making money and having no time to paint. Of course, the ideal situation would be to be painting and making money. That has been my life's quest.
This is why I associate with musicians so much. We're working to remain true to our creative calling and be able to support ourselves and our families.
I'd also like to think that I set a good example for young women and mothers. It's possible to have both a career and a family. There are sacrifices to be made (I gave up several high-paying positions to stay home). Every sacrifice is worth it! My son is now 18 and is a healthy and loving young man. It's my belief that my being here with him every day is part of the reason.
Now I'm concentrating hard on my work and in getting recognition. I want to retire one day, folks! Not easy for a free-lance artist, believe me.
I hope you enjoy looking at my artworks. While I've had several large clients, it is just me sitting in my studio painting for hours every day. It's a solitary and isolated profession. I'm grateful for MySpace and the internet in general giving me the opportunity to meet people all over the world.
I'm just a girl who refused to give up her crayons when she grew up...
That said - I just finished designing this artwork for a new and unique line of limited edition art. I'll paint this design 200 times on guitars sent to me. Each one will be numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity. The artwork was inspired by several events not the least of which was being introduced to the hippie culture at the Monterey Pop Festival when I was 7. I was privileged to re-create the guitar that Jimi burned at that event for Fender 30 years later.
The best way to find out more about me is to go to my website Pamelina.com where there are hundreds of art images based on work I've done in fantasy art, on guitars and motorcycles.
I've been working with Fender and other guitar companies for 20 years. I'm proud to say that I was the first artist to paint a guitar from the Fender Custom Shop. I worked with John Page to create the Fender Custom Shop's logo. To date, I've painted over 2000 guitars for Fender, Ibanez, et.al.
You can see many of these guitars on my site at Guitar Art . You can also find out how to get your own guitar painted .

I've also been busy painting motorcycles and magazine illustrations, book covers, album art, painting drums, giving tattoos, painting portraits and more.

This year has been very busy and exciting. Among the work done this year are the Psychedelic guitars, apparel artwork for New Line Cinema's new movie The Golden Compass, a book cover for fantasy author Robin McKinley and a very special birthday Fender Jazz bass created for James Worthy, basketball hall of famer.

The text above each slideshow is linked to that section on my website. There are many more images on my site - over 250 pages altogether so you may as well light one up and look around awhile...

I love doing portraits that aren't the same old stiff poses with dull backgrounds. If you'd like to get a portrait that isn't the norm that your family will treasure for generations, contact me.

My Interests

Art, of course. Especially fantasy art. I enjoy reading and watching movies. My favorite book and movie subjects are sci-fi and horror, documentaries and biographies. I have great interest in history, espcially ancient history. I'm into unusual plants and have a garden full of them. I have a great fascination with the sea and love spending time in tropical waters. I want to see the world.

I'd like to meet:

People who are into fantasy/sci-fi/surreal art, artists, luthiers, guitar players and guitar collectors. Battlestar Galactica geeks and Dune goons!

I'm a friend to musicians. Please feel free to promote your music and shows on the comments of my profile.

I also invite artists to show their artwork here. Does anyone else out there believe there should be a section of MySpace called MySpace Art?
