Texte en français♠ From the end of the sixties till 1973, there was almost nothing in France.
The few national bands that were emerging gave the thrills to those that would become the rock'n'roll pioneers of Decazeville area.
Salmacis, future Praxis put out the first ever record totally self-produced in Decazeville, "Epitaphe Pour Une Rousse"
Anathème, Maurice Ambiance, Les Dispensés de gym…
All these bands let the doors wide opened for the youngers that would be ready to play the 1st january of 78, just after Great Britain and the mythic year of 77!
All the bands' friends gravitate around the garages & the rehearsal rooms, they smoke alltogether and organise somz jam sessions in the city's bars.
The agitation around the movement is as intense and tumultuous as the "electrical activity" streactly speaking, the first pirate radios give the opportunity to a few nutties to play their "Demarrage Difficile" program, the ultimate radio ROCK show 3 or 4 hours of hilarious anarcho-ethylic delirium with the sound of the Clash, the Jam, Sham 69, 12°5... far away from the disabused & stiff tone of Bernard Lenoir (Inrockuptible).
In the same time, the Asso Presse Libre in Decazeville is the rock'n'roll engine of the area: the "Carton Plein" fanzine abound in new ideas as a rock photoromance (with some local characters)... a precursor of the eclectic & intelligent rock press.
The APLD is also the first association to organise concerts that weren't dance!!!
Just to name a few: STILETTOS, OTH, GAMINE, STANDARDS, APPLE PIE, ORCHESTRE ROUGE, an unforgottenable Rock sur le Zinc, and later BIJOU and RAOUL PETITE…
The local scene is still active, the bands split or mix up, rehearse sometimes on drugs.
One of the cultural "monument" of the area is the FO-LI-JEU association which organised the best concerts with international artists, during 10 years!! les DOGS, STING-RAYS, FLESHTONES, PAUL COLLINS' BEAT, BARRACUDAS, NOMADS, FIXED-UP, SINNERS, KID PHARAON, QUEEN BEES, SHIFTERS, STUNNERS, CORONADOS, STILETTOS, STRYCHNINE, NEW CHRISTS, THUGS.
It's still shakin in the garages with some new combos.
In 1989 the Chatterbox appears, with Speedy, Cooke, Baba, Dimi Dero and Rems they are joined later by JC. Gourgue, Raymond BELMONTE, Steph Al, GG, Laurent Gorse and Phil Monje.
The chatterbox are pure punk-rock, inspired by the Ramones, the god Johnny Thunders, Stooges, Radio Birdman a certain vision of the hi-energy rock'n'roll in general.
An explosive cocktail !!!!!
In 1993 the Chatterbox migrate to Toulouse where they record their one and only single very rare, in 1996 they break up.
Later in 97 Speedy and three Space Beatniks create the Jerry Spider Gang".
2007, 10 years later, The Chatterbox are coming back .
