Snazzy/Echoman (of Geddo Soul'jas)

MY STORY Birth name: S Flowers Alias: Snazzy-The Artist, Echoman-The Producer/Composer

I Wanted a Playstation when I was 11 years old Mum got me a keyboard. I practically taught myself to read and play classical music. I play very professionally and people are always amazed that I taught myself so many classical pieces at a young age. Got into garage around 14 Started MCeeing. I performed in an opera called "The Palace In The Sky" with the ENO (English National Opera).

Did a few music summer courses; mainly in East London with the London Metropolitan University. I undertook Music Power, Emceeing with Ty, Golf and many other summer courses. I did a summer course every summer between the ages of 13-17. Picked music as a option for my GCSEs Thats when I got into music technology. I loved making beats on the old Cubase VST. I carried on with Music Technology in college and studied for a Diploma. I passed well after two years of study, gaining two distinctions and one merit. During my stay at Croydon College, I produced an album called "Irresponsible", I also produced and/or featured on many of the songs for the college's first ever album "Black and White".

I was beginning to make a name for myself. One summer I worked at Heartbeat academy with Southwarks Y.O.T. as a mentor and Recording Engineer/Assistant producer. I co-produced many tracks there but they were mainly garage. I co-produced a song called "Rude Boy" by a garage duo called 'Regal Players'. This song was big on radio and they did a music video for 'Channel U'.

At college, I was probably the most dedicated and determined to succeed, many times I was thrown out by security because they wanted to close the building. If you're wondering why I am so skinny, It is because of my passion for music. I went hungry in the studios nearly everyday and I was always upset if I had to leave my work to eat food; epecially because I eat terribly slowly! 'Man cannot live on bread alone'-Matthew 4:4. I love music-I hate time-consuming food!

After college I went straight into university. I chose the LCMM (London College of Music and Media) aka TVU (Thames Valley University), because I had attended a summer school with them before.

My student loan went straight to setting up a music studio at home. I upgraded my software from Cubase to Logic Pro 7.1 the rest of the money went to driving lessons (passed first time with BSM got 35/35 in my theory too!), and to my wifey (girlfriend) at the time. What can I say, I was in love... thats another story!

I did well in my first year at university. I am currently in my second year of study for a BA(Hons) Music Technolgy with Radio Broadcasting. You can only choose one minor option. I was also interested in Video, Images, Performance etc. The reason I picked radio is because I wanted to get our songs (Geddo Soul'jas) on radio but had no idea how to.

I got radio play with the university 'Tube Radio'. I presented and produced a two hour show called 'Geddo Talks'. Here, we played our mixed tape and original songs as well as hosting a call-in where the younger generations can talk to us about social issues in society.

It was a big hit. The website is: www.tuberadio.co.uk Im thinking of starting it back up again this year when things get a little less hectic.

Around my neighbourhood I soon became known as the local 'Media' guy. Dabbling in music production, live preformance, radio, photoshop etc.

I realised I had skills in photoshop when I was unable to use my computer normally because the sound was gone!! Something was stuck in the headphones output. A close friend of mine and his girlfriend often merged images of themselves on a basic programme. I was facinated, I never thought I could do anything like it. However, working on an iMac G5, the programme was not availible to me on OSX-it was only on windows. Then I heard about photoshop. I got hold of this new software and had a go at it. Everyone was quite impressed with my ideas and execution of them. Soon, everyone was requesting a photoshop production from me. Anyway, I was so bored most of summer 2006 that I spent hours creating collages in photoshop; many of which are displyed in my pictures folder.

As for my personality: I am an all-round joker!! I make people laugh. I was shy in primary school and I hated it! Now im over confident in most fields. I always make an impression and I don't really care whether its good or bad. I often depress myself because I like to feel different emotions rather than be in one set happy land world mood. I beleve in speaking my mind. If I think you look fat I won't say I don't. Because of this some people think im heartless or rude. They just don't know me too well. I am difficult to figure out and I can be VERY random. But one thing that doesn't change is my ambition to succeed in all that I do.

My team is "Geddo Soul'jas". There are three of us. Me and Shy aka Double S compose the beats whilst Tiny-Man can only write and perform. Our story is quite a long one but this is not the Geddo Soul'jas page so I won't go into it.

I now take piano lessons and Im a grade 6 of 8 so thats quite good I think. But there is still room for progression!

Me and the guys feel we are ready to make our mark on Britain and the rest of the world so we are hungry for any publicity and we are aiming to land a recording deal.
