Who Are we? Zohra, & Shayestah are belly-dancers based in Dublin looking to expand our knowledge andmeet people we can learn from and work with. Performances at Tassel club, Dublin fringe theatre festival’s Spiegeltent, RDS, Temple bar Music centre, & corporate launch events and restaurants. We've done private show dance recitals, parties, weddings, and hen nights with fun group classes.? What Do we Do? Trained in what is known as Belly-dance; authentically called Raqs-Sharqi. Style: Egyptian cabaret with Asian & Tribal fusion influences, Always looking to understand world and folkloric dance in more depth.Most of all: we do it because we love it and it makes us happy...Presentation: sensual but never sleazy, sometimes even comic and even healing- performed on stage or level ground, when possible including audience participation. My Interests

World dance styles: raqs sharqi, kathak, gypsy, samba, flamenco, tribal... Current favourite: tongue in cheek burlesque and cabaret shows.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who wants to share great world music and have fun dancing.Boys with drums/ girls and boys who love to shimmy with their sparkly bits! Our Mission? To be a dance collective who share our enthusiasim, new techniques, resources, and ideas with one another- Most of all we support and help each other and friends, when preparing for auditons/gigs. We bounce off choreography ideas and love to learn. Seeking to present Raqs sharqi and folkloric dance in a contemporary way ...

Music:

MIDDLE EASTERN, World Music both Traditional & contemporary: Hakim, Tarkan, Classical & Modern Middle eastern, Dana, Nancy Arjam, Natasha Atlas. Anything with soul and a rhythm to die for: R&B, Brazilian, Latino,..Shayestah really digs Prince and of course there's all that Jazz! the old and the new. Sting, bjork and others who embrace world sound

Movies:

Tamer Henna (old egyptian flick, see below), "Devdas" Musicals of course! Sensual "Like Water for Chocolate", "Wings of Desire". Foxy "Fabulous Baker Boys" Retro kitsch: Grease, Dirty Dancing, Flashdance, Victor &Victoria... (you get the picture)..

Television:

the west wing - alas its over. Sc-fi fiend here who loves trekking. Forlaughs watch The Daily edition and Fox news can't tell which is funnier sometimes " the comedy writes itself" sometimes.

Books:
