Performing Artist, Dance Teacher and Vocalist
Delara's love for music and dance blossomed in her early days of childhood. As a young girl, Delara would dance and sing for hours. Throughout her youth, Delara was part of a majorettes troop, a garage band, as well as jazz and ballroom dance classes. Delara also joined a drum core and took up flag and gun twirling, entering many competitions throughout North America, in her early teens.
With her family being culturally diverse, Delara was exposed to music from various countries, sparking her passion for international dances. Delara's talent for dance made it easy for her to learn the intricate steps of various mainstream and traditional styles, impressing everyone around her.
For nearly a decade, Delara has been drawn to many styles of dance such as Salsa and Hip Hop. However, her main area of interest and concentration for the past five years has been the Middle Eastern art of dance with its delicate and symbolic body moves known to the western world as "belly dancing". Delara has been studying belly dancing under the guidance of her mentor, Rania (Ariane taught by Denise Enan).
Delara regularly attends seminars, keeping her up-to-date with the world of dance; including Persian and East Indian traditional dances. Recently Delara attended a seminar hosted by Sonia, one of The Bellydance Superstars. Delara is looking forward to joining Denise Enan's classes in the near future and she has also begun Persian dancing as well.
Through her sparkling personality, grace and "joie de vivre" Delara makes all her students feel welcome.
