Aldo Nova / a.k.a.: Aldo Caporuscio
Musician/ Singer/Songwriter/ Guitarist/Keyboardist/ Grammy Award winning Music Producer:
.. born in Montreal CANADA as Aldo Caporuscio, Aldo Nova learned to play guitar at age 15 inspired by Jimi Hendrix and jazz; he ate, breathed, and slept the guitar, practicing non-stop. At the very beginning of his solo career in 1982, Aldo Nova's critically acclaimed self-titled debut album was entirely written, arranged, performed, produced and engineered by himself, it set a trend as the first multi-instrumentalist rock album. The video "FANTASY" was one of the first videos to be featured on MTV music channel, and also one of the first rock videos that used special effects. Aldo Nova music can be described as "techno-progressive heavy POP ROCK, new age ear candy".
Aldo Nova scored a publishing/recording/distribution deal in 1981-'82 with Sony/ Portrait Records and released his debut album featuring the hit single "Fantasy". It reached platinum (1 million copies +) and is still selling to this day.
During the time between 1980-1982 Aldo also helped a then unknown Jon Bongiovi (a.k.a.:Bon Jovi) by writing, recording, playing Guitar, Keyboards, and background vocals on songs including the hit "Runaway" for demo tapes that got Bon Jovi their first record contract deal. The demos were recorded at Jon's cousin Tony Bongiovi's recording studio "The Power Station" in New York USA.
The Jon Bon Jovi demos have now become available as "Jon Bongiovi: The Powerstation Years".
1983.:.SUBJECT: Aldo Novaa concept album set in a nuclear waste-land featuring the hit singles:
"Monkey On Your Back" and "Hey Operator". SUBJECT's moody atmosphere showed mature writing, but still rocked out! After SUBJECT, Aldo Nova dropped out of sight for 3 years doing jingles for radio and TV commercials and worked on other projects. In '85 he released Twitch. Aldo Nova's career expanded as musician, vocalist, composer, arranger and producer, as he worked on other projects in both Canada and USA on the soundtracks for the motion pictures "Ruthless people" ("Don't You Want My Love"), Steven Spielberg's "The Goonies" ("R Good Enough"), as well as albums and Tours with Cyndi Lauper, Blue Oyster Cult, Michael Bolton, Lita Ford, Brian Greenway/April Wine, Jon Bon Jovi, and Celine Dion.
Aldo Nova vanished off the face of the earth again returning in 1990 working on his friend Jon Bon Jovi's "Blaze Of Glory" YOUNG GUNS 2 SOUNDTRACK and his own Blood On The Bricks on Bon Jovi's Jambco Records label. A greatest hits package: Portrait of Aldo Nova was also released in '91. During 1989-1996 he also worked with Brian Greenway/April Wine playing Keyboards and Guitar on Greenway's "Serious Business" CD, Celine Dion on Incognito, Unison, Dion Chante Plamondon (Aldo Nova performed in a 1990 Celine Dion video with Aldo playing guitar on "Des Mots Qui Sonnent"), and Falling Into You featuring the Aldo Nova written for Celine hits: "Your Light", "Dreamin' of You", and "I Love You" (also recorded by Faith Hill).
Aldo recorded an all-instrumental new age ROCK album in '96 called Nova's Dream .
Aldo worked with Celine Dion once again for her latest album "A New Day Has Come"(March 2002).Aldo recently wrote another Radio hit for Celine called "You And I" on her New Day: "Live in Las Vegas" CD
Aldo Nova recently wrote a hit single for American Idol's Clay Aiken called "This is The Night" and continues to be active in the music industry as a Songwriter, Producer, and Musician.
