About Noah Gordon: Born in a small town in Southern Illinois, Noah began making music at a very early age. He played his first paying gig when he was only four years old. At the local 1976 Bicentennial celebration he started singing and playing mandolin with his parents bluegrass band "The Gordons". "I was barely tall enough to reach the microphone," says Noah. Gary and Roberta Gordon helped him form a solid musical foundation with traditional bluegrass and folk music but they also exposed Noah to many types of music from country to rock and almost everything in-between.
By the time he was nine he had picked up the drums and began playing shows with a new variation of "The Gordons" which incorporated both country and rock music along with the folk and bluegrass. At the ripe old age of twelve, Noah landed his first full-time job, four or five days a week, as a member of Nashville songwriter Chance Walkers band. Chance was Ernest Tubbs grandson and had written hits for country artists including Lying Time Again for Mel Tillis. "It was a real crash course in entertaining. I learned a lot about what it takes to move an audience," he says. "Its an experience I still treasure."
Noah continued to work with local bands through high school and used his talents to help him through college. During this time he began developing his songwriting skills and started making his own recordings in his basement. While attending Southern Illinois University and studying electrical engineering technology, Noah began making trips back and forth to Nashville, TN playing for anyone who would listen. Eventually, he caught the attention of Capital Records president Jimmy Bowen. In 1992, he had the opportunity to transfer his schooling to Nashville. He was soon signed to EMI and kept writing and recording as he finished his degree.
In 1995, Noah released his first Major label album, "I Need A Break", and began making videos and touring almost every square inch of the United States. "It was a great experience in many ways," says Noah. "I learned so much and having a major label deal allowed me to get into a business that is almost impossible to crack into." After touring for over two years solid, he decided to focus more on songwriting. "I had played live for so many years, I was ready for a breather and interested in getting to work more in the studio."
That decision turned out to be a good one. Since then Noah has had his songs recorded by artists ranging from Charlie Daniels and Clay Walker to Craig Morgan and John Michael Montgomery. This break from the road also allowed him the time necessary to start a family. He and his wife Leighanne have two daughters, Jacqueline and Savannah. "When you have children it makes you realize what life is really all about. You stop worrying about things that dont matter and you start being very thankful for all thats wonderful in your life," says Noah. "I think having time at home has made me a better songwriter, too. I see more of what everyday life is about and I try to put that realness into my songs."
Noah signed on with Encore/Warner Bros. Nashville in October 1998 for a 7 year run as an exclusive staff-writer. During that time he began working with other artists in a producing role. "I really enjoy working in the studio and helping other artists find exactly who they are," Gordon says. "Its great to work with talented people and I think it makes me a better writer and for the future a better artist myself."
Since beginning his journey as a writer/producer, Noah has produced and/or co-wrote many chart hits including CCMA Independent Song Of The Year, "Addicted" (Number 2 CMN), "You Still Own Me" (Number 5 CMN), "U Make Me Love U" (Number 8 CMT) and many more..."I believe I actually enjoy being a part of other artists success more than my own," says Noah. "Its amazingly fulfilling, and I still get to sleep in my own bed most of the time."
In late 2005 Noah founded New Millennium Music on Music Row in Nashville, TN. After 14 years of building success and a name in the music community, Noah felt it was time to make a move towards the business side. So far, New Millennium Music has secured cuts on several projects including Warner Bros. newest artist and Nashville Star finalist, Lance Miller and Toby Keiths labels newest artist Tim Rushlow. Noah is also in the final stages of producing/co-writing a new album project for Universal Canada rising star JR Vautour. 2006 is just barely off to a start, but Noahs music is already making big waves.
Noah Gordons life is music. Always has been, always will be. "I make music now for the same reason I started playing music in the first place, I love it!"
