Started out on Piano and violin in the mid 60's then switched to guitar by 1969 and electric guitar in 1971. Earliest influences included Nigerian JuJu music, JAZZ and American surf music. Then the Beatles happened! Later, got caught up into the Rolling Stones, Cream, Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Steppenwolf... WOW What a musically productive period that was!
When Jorma & Jack split off to develop Hot Tuna, Bucky went with them (HUGE Tuna fan), focusing on the Acoustic "Country Blues" they played by folks like Aurthur "Blind" Blake, Fulton Allen (Blind Boy Fuller), Blind Lemon Jefferson, etc.
Became a Southern Rocker in the late 70's (not a Disco fan) inspired by The Outlaws, Lynyrd Skynyrd, etc... All the while listening to other styles from bands like YES, Gentle Giant, McCoy Tyner, Thelonius Monk, Grover Washington Jr, Les Paul and Chet Atkins to name a few. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention Blue Oyster Cult, but that's another story again.
These days, Bucky plays and sings alot of old country blues tunes, studying with Jorma out at Fur Peace Ranch. Most recently hooked up with a GREAT fiddle instructor, learning "Soldier's Joy", "Angeline the Baker", "Ashoaken Fairwell" and "Morrison's" (Jim Morrison?).
I'm also a big fan of Anne Frank.
