IN THE STATIC: out now!!

About Me

my formative musical years were spent playing guitar in the post rock style... pretty and heavy. while bands i was in rose briefly and collapsed (vagus, springs) i was also making ambient experimental music on a digital 4 track, collecting gear, thinking, pacing, working, drinking a lot, going insane and falling in love.in 2005 i started recording demos for a band i was trying to form with some friends. the songs took shape but the band didn't, and those demos became the music of aheadphonehome.also in 2005, my partner stella and i leased an ex tyre factory and converted it into the beautiful studio you see on the album cover. i bunkered down there throughout 2006 with my computer.. surrounded by guitars, a fuzzy old organ, synthesisers, drum machines, old radios and tape decks, and a bunch of op shop records that ranged from the timeless tropical sounds of "songs of hawaii" to the cleverly titled "learn french in record time". friends dropped by to contribute parts and advice. we had big parties.the album that emerged from this era is called "in the static". it's a very personal ode to ideas of home, impossible quests for perfection, the passage of time, love, insomnia and dreams of how things might be.the studio is now home to the monthly festivale that is hangar. check out the loflyhangar myspace in the top friends for details.. in the static is the second release from the lofly label, following restream's 2006 release "loopsforstereogram". it is available from rockinghorse and skinny's and online at www.cdbaby.com.over this australian summer, i'm having a well earned break after working in the public service for the last 732 years. please send friend requests and messages - i will get to them early next year.i am hoping 2008 will see a new album (or two), and a lot of touring.
